In his earlier career John Martyn was always looking for a new voice to express and extend his music. I was lucky enough to come by a spare ticket for his Solid Air tour. By then his acoustic had had a pick-up gaffer-taped to it as a feed to an echoplex set-up so that he could build layers of chords over which to improvise further. With bassist Danny Thompson on an upright, he mesmerised us with hypnotic rhythms. Thank you for picking up this bundle from Murdock - thanks to him. John Martyn has always been a treasure for me since that first concert, and I hope you too will hold his music close to you.
