Lake George is a huge salt lake which intermittently fills with water although the last time it full was 1971. It's said to be over a million years old. I've always loved places like this where there is an unobstructed view to the horizon, no trees, nothing. I spent a lot of time around the Lake Eyre region in central Australia, photographing it and absorbing the place at a spiritual level. See my ETHER series and THE GIFT OF TIME AND SPACE.
The images here were shot in April 2019 on the way back from a weekend in Canberra where Aurora had some shoots, one of which was with Robert Coppa. It was the first time I'd worked with her around this kind of concept. I'd worked this idea with a couple of other models previously but not with her. The required look and idea is not something all models can do as it requires an appreciation of the feelings that I personally have around the notion of space, landscape and nature. I haven't been able to pursue these ideas since leaving Australia 4 years ago as there is no place in Europe that inspires me in the same way as the wide open spaces of Australia, particularly the desert.
