I experimented with video on this idea as it's more literal and easier to portray emotion, or at least it was an easy place to begin with. If I could get it on video then I could find a way to get it using stills.
Laneikka was a fashion model who was also into acting and had training as an actor. I briefed her on what I wanted and she did what was recorded in the video above. I set up the D800 on a tripod and composed the frame with Laneikka's face then I walked away and left her there to do her thing alone. I asked her to signal me when she was done. I was a moving experience for me and I have much gratitude to her for putting herself in that place that allowed here to experience true emotion and for me to be able to capture it.
This was a TFP shoot of course so I also shot a fashion set for her which was published in Elegant magazine in 2017, you can find that set here:
