A WALK IN THE HEATH WITH SYLPH [SET 1 of 2]

Finally this set is edited.  It took some time because there was a shitload of dust on these scans! Much of it is colour neg film converted to B&W which is something I do when I have a batch of C41 chemicals that need using up. With the exception of the last two, all were shot with the Pentax 67 using Portra or Fuji colour film.

Sylph is primarily an art nude model so she isn't really totally comfortable with my style of work which centres around the face but she loves challenging herself and most important of all, she trusts me and she loves film! She's extended herself many times in front of my camera and I really appreciate that and that level of trust. 

We've shot out in the landscape a few times and indoors many times. 

For these shots I had most of the spots pre planned after having walked through the area the day before. This area was only 10 minutes from where I lived so it was super convenient. I also shot Sienna Hayes here and other people so it's a very familiar location. I chose late afternoon for this shoot as the light comes straight in from the setting sun over the distant range. On this day it was filtered by heavy storm clouds - that storm hit while we were shooting and we had virtually no cover - see the video below.

For some shots I orientated Sylph the right way for the light and asked her to walk slowly along a predetermined path while I moved around and took shots, many of which were deliberately cropped. I like that look of only part of the face visible, usually the mouth. Many shots were taken from a low vantage point which I always like as it emphasises the subject's strength. Having said that, the last two shots here were taken from a higher point with the 70-200mm zoom.

Editing

• PS for skin work (frequency separation and dust removal via dust and speckle filter with a mask)
• Silver Efex Pro for B&W fine tuning

Film was processed in Tetenal C41 chemicals at home and scanned with an Epson V800. I have this scanner in Poland now after a friend shipped it to me but I haven't had the chance to shoot much film lately.

These edits were done here in Poland on the original scans which are ridiculously large.

Set 2 coming tomorrow.

Sylph extending herself on another occasion with a collar that a friend gave her. She didn't know what to do with it so I suggested this. Does it work?
