Merits for both: external view hints at what is happening, leaving you to imagine it; x-ray gives you a consummate perspective — oh, was that a pun? ;-) My favorite is p.o.v from the inside, with epiglottis and everything — I'll wait until I can raise my pledge a few tiers before asking that Emi consider making more of those, of course, because I expect that those are difficult to animate.
