SPOT THE FAKE TIGER PART 2 [+ SPEEDPAINT]

Very well then! You guys had 24 hours to think, now it's time for the results!! The fake tiger was....

Number 7!! That was the only tiger I did not draw using reference, but rather drew from imagination ^^ did you think it could be that one? Let me know!

Now, what good is it to practice if I don't use the knowledge? I decided to draw some headshots of anthro/furry tigers to check and... Would you look at that! They look good! ^^ Also bonus species-bent lilly hehehe

I also wanted to let you see why practicing/studying is so important. Here's a tiger I drew not so long ago, using no references:

Now, she doesnt look bad, so I left her like that ^^ but tragedy stroke when I tried drawing her AGAIN --> I was struggling so much I had to look for references! I could not make her look like a tiger. I had to stop and look at some references, and then I was able to draw her better:

See? this is why you need to use references!! And now look at those cute faces I was able to draw just by studying a little, which didnt take long and actualy was a lot of fun! ^^

I wanted to talk about something. If you see the speedpaint, you'll see that I leave to headshots uncolored. These, if you notice, are kinda weird looking. They are furry tigers for sure but they look a little diferent. They are more realistic than the colored ones. That's because these are "transition" sketches. You see, the brain needs time to properly switch between tasks, otherwhise the previous task influences the new one. Since I was first copying tigers and then imagining them, my head kinda needs some time to switch. The first headshots, therefore, are an in between!

This is why warm-up and cool-down sketches are super important, because they help putting the brain in the "working" mindset ✨. If you don't do warmups, it could be that you give your client a transition sketch as the final piece, when there was a way prettier drawing waiting to come out!

TLDR: if you like drawing: Never skeep practice and do warmups!!
