Book 12 Summary (The Gathering Storm)
Added 2025-09-02 13:00:07 +0000 UTCEDITING KAYLA: We are now getting in to the tail end of these books and, oh my gosh, as someone who has never read them, these summaries have really made me want to start!

Think this is the second or third time I have watched this video. But I have finally begun reading the book and wanted another reminder of the story. The entire pace seems to have picked up which I attribute to Sanderson. This is the first time I understand Moraine's comment about the connection between Rand and the land. The more he sinks into madness, the more the land dies, food spoils and the Pattern unravels. Then, Veins of Gold. Brings all Rand's PTSD and fear to a head and is beautifully explained. And we see the DRAGON as he truly is. Thanks so much for this synopsis

2025-10-13 20:33:21 +0000 UTCThe veins of gold scene in this book is the greatest thing I have ever read in my life. It’s the culmination of the entire story and great so amazing. I think about it at least once a week even though it’s been a decade easy since I first read it. It’s truly amazing.

2025-09-13 07:54:01 +0000 UTCHello everyone. I love these videos, especially since I have only been a tv watcher. I have a question about the audiobooks. Has anyone listened to the ones that Rosamund Pike has done, and what did you think? Thank you in advance.

2025-09-11 02:56:46 +0000 UTCI postponed listening to this recap cause we only have 2 more books left in the series. This book starts the beginning of the end to me. The pace picks up with Sanderson's involvement so much that I felt out of breath at the conclusion of MOL. Your reference to the BROWN MARKER was so unexpected I feel like I need to reread the series again and I am still on my first re-read. Feel you could've mentioned Egwene's beheading those Tower BLACK AJAH right after her acceptance as Amylin.

2025-09-03 18:36:46 +0000 UTCI overall understand why they needed the split timelines, but it was such a mind-wrench for me after the previous 11 books had all been co-current. Hopper is and always will be the goodest of good boy! Sanderson’s Mat was such a letdown in this book. I know even Sanderson himself admitted Mat was the character he struggled with the most, and boy to you feel that in this book. I don’t think he fully gets him until book 14. I always struggled to connect with Rodel as a character, maybe because he was introduced on screen later in the game. I love the interactions with Rand and Moridin and Moridin’s explanation of why he follows the Dark One. It always baffled me how so few people understood the logic of clearing away the old seals first to make a smooth area to patch. Felt contrived to extend people’s disagreements. The fact that the male a’dam is called a Domination Band and coloured black is just a bit more Jordan kinkiness. Crazy how the Domination Band just gives the controller absolute monopoly over the leashed ones actions, significantly more so than the female a’dam. The arc of Dark Rand is what I think makes him one of the best Chosen One protagonists in fiction. I did love Rand’s confrontation of Cadsuane, but I also felt that Brandon didn’t quite present her the way Jordan would have, her voice felt a little off. To be expected of course. I believe Rand was mentioned to be leagues above Hawkwing in terms of ta’veren. Tuon had exceptional willpower, but also she saw the dark aura around Rand that started after he channeled the True Power, and that’s what made her force herself to resist the ta’veren. Hurin was so wholesome, I loved him! I love how you went “we’re not gonna pick Rand up, just start with some tickles”, then 30 minutes of Rand story happened :P Tam al’Thor is up there with the GOATs of Wheel of Time. I began to dislike Egwene from book 5, but in book 12 I really liked her storyline and how she was winning the Tower from the inside. Her confrontation of the Black Ajah hunters and dropping the knowledge that Siuan was illegally deposed was phenomenal. Gawyn is such a frustrating character. Verin didn’t take Egwene off her Red Ajah minders, she was waiting in Egwene’s room on purpose. Earlier the Brown Ajah quarters and some of the Novice wing switched places in the Tower, which was Egwene’s reason for why Verin was in her room when the Red Sisters poked their heads in to see what was going on. It was technically the Ajah heads meeting in the Tower, not the Hall. We find out that they’ve been the ones doing a lot of the manipulating following the split. I understand her personal logic for wanting to make the Rebels apologise because she now represents the whole Tower and not just them, but boy did she switch up fast. I think they should have gotten some praise for rebelling against the illegal deposing of Siuan, because that fact got quite glossed over the book.

2025-09-02 23:06:28 +0000 UTCI know you can’t fit everything into these summaries, but one of my favorite lines in the whole series is when Egwene says she WOULD accuse Elaida of being a darkfriend, but she thinks the Dark One would be embarrassed to associate with her.

2025-09-02 21:18:08 +0000 UTCThe passages being read by Daniel in these summary videos make me wish Daniel would narrate the audiobooks. I feel the emotion in these passages so much more with Daniel's reading than I do listening to Michael Kramer and Kate Reading.

2025-09-02 14:47:21 +0000 UTCGreat video guys. I can’t wait for a breathe of fresh air next book as zen Rand organizes things, Perrin accepts himself, and Mat continues to be the best. Perrin’s plot line in ToM is my favorite.
