The issue is the very vocal and often Harassing "sub elitists" that storm reaction channels and write a thesis about why subs are objectively better than dubs because they cant justify their elitism if their opinions are not taken as fact. Modern dubs are professional and high quality. You should watch it in whatever way you are most comfortable and not feed this issue. Any context you could gain from the original VA will never outweigh the context you lose from reading the bottom the entire time and missing the visual elements so if you are not comfortable doing both or rewinding, then don't. As someone with eye impairment I cant watch subs easily and certainly not on a reaction with a smaller box, so I always appreciate Dub reactions but they are hard to come by cause they often get harassed into watching a sub by these guys. At the end of the day, the best reaction is one where you are comfortable.

I am happy about the sub for demon slayer, and if I had to pick which of the 2 dubs is better, I'd probably go with frieren rather easily. Having said that, I think I care about Frieren a lot more, so it hurts. In my opinion, while the dub for Frieren is okayyy, the subs are significantly better for both it and Demon Slayer.

Both were complimented/appreciated by someone dear. Fern when showing Heiter the magical butterflies and Frieren, because of Himmel/the team appreciating the moment she created flowers with magic.

2025-05-27 22:40:41 +0000 UTCThere are anime series known for having great dubs that can almost rival the original Japanese versions. Death Note is one of them, which is why it's often recommended to watch it dubbed. The Frieren dub is good, but not quite as excellent as the sub, which features very distinctive voice performances. in my opinion, the biggest issue pf Dub is that poor translations are sometimes carried over from the sub to the dub, which can really affect the overall experience. It's not really the case for Frieren but the japanese subtitles have way more literate translations.
