Poll Time

This month, it seems they will be able to start two new anime series. I never thought I could get them to watch even one anime (Attack on Titan), but here we are! You all are really a big influence on them. So, please vote for what you want to see, and feel free to recommend any in the comments. They were considering choosing the second one themselves, but we’re not sure yet.

Also dubbed or subbed unless we need a separate poll for that. I hope you guys can figure that out. Some of the crew do want to say they enjoy the dubbed in Death Note. Whatever you guys think provides the best viewing experience!

Comments

I remember growing up watching Sword Art Online dubbed, and I wanna recommend it as it’s one of my mother’s favorites!

Jomi

I think Frieren or Avatar the last airbender would help them keep their minds sane, with all the dark animes they have experienced so far, might need something to cheer em up haha

Firemane

We've started watching it. The first episode will be released soon.

Vendeholt Reacts

I think Vinland saga would be the best one :3

ecofriendly

If they are open to sports anime, I highly recommend "Hajime no Ippo", even though it is still ongoing. If they prefer realistic and thought-provoking series like "Death Note", "Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor" is a great choice. It offers deep insights into human nature while being highly entertaining.

Oscar

I think they'd really enjoy Castlevania! I highly recommend it for this group.

Trey Harsch

Cultured

Aus

Berserk original anime. Berserk original anime

Aus

Code Geass

Coticarl

I think Arcane would be something they would enjoy.

Jorge

Yes once I finished Arcane I gave it a try and it did not disappoint

Ruby

My new favorite show from Netflix, was always scrolling pass it then finally give it a chance 10/10 in my opinion

Hollywood

Now those would fit them since they love a good story. Castlevania would also be a good edition

Hollywood

Kengen ashura on Netflix mogs all these

zishan

I think they would appreciate something like Mob Psycho the most as a very grounded, human story with comedy that would make them laugh

Dkangen

BERSERK

treehunned

I’d agree these choices are not the best fit at all

Christopher

My favorite part is the first five episodes

Christopher

Vinland Saga is great, but it's soooooo slow at first.

Marquie

Honestly i feel like Monster would be an amazing anime to follow up after Death Note

Ermin Dedić

Typical simp that probably saw snippets of Brotherhood and thought that was the whole ass anime. Brotherhood sucked so much I thought I was watching Pokemon. Forced humor every 5 minutes and too many bright colours. FML 2003 was a whole lot more serious and gory but y'all can't face the truth.

cincin

Haikyuu is a great confort anime to a family watch :)

Nícolas Tosatti

PG-13 show

Archer Jay

I don’t. Demon slayer is another one of those PG-13 shows

Archer Jay

Demon slayer guys! I like Vinland saga too, but in terms of what I think they would actually ENJOY the most, it would be demon slayer. It’s a fan favourite for a reason, and it’s my mums favourite too. I know most of us have already seen demon slayer and seen lots of reactions, but I think it would be the most enjoyable for them to watch :)

Hannah

Maybe James is right. I don't want to interfere in that, so how about a movie between series? I know boys like time traveling content, and it's a story about a girl, so everyone would like it - "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time". It's about 1hour and 40minutes long and It's classical anime style from 2006.

Pawel

SMAB DUBBED BABY. And vinland saga. Both peak

Austin

FMAB Dubbed

Rei Jin

OMG Yes! I've watched it twice now, it really is a masterpiece

Ruby

I recommend to watch Vinland saga subbed. I don't think the dub good but for FMAB dub is great

Crowly

Out of the five, Vinland. But for a change of atmosphere Anohana might work for them. Erased, Steins gate, monster and promised neverland are also good for this audience.

Luke Cai

Vinland saga such a slow burn

zishan

Vinland Saga definitely for the win, I think they'll really appreciate and enjoy it

Jem

I think Vinland being watched in Sub is fair since they are doing death note in dub. Maybe the next one after Vinland can be a dub? Idk Thorfinn’s Japanese voice actor is SOOOOOOOO talented

Briana R

Agree with all of this!

Paul Hankins

Vinland is great but I agree that it would be better to do one that's completed unless the crew doesn't mind waiting??? So I vote for FMAB Dubbed. Also would like to see reactions to Erased! I've only seen Erased subbed idk if the dub is good? Also wanted to say I love the consistent schedule and that you guys upload a lot and quickly!

Paul Hankins

Based take

Gattsu

We must have seen 2 different animes then

Gattsu

Just wanted to join the sub train for Vinland Saga

Gattsu

its one o fthe best thing out there its a masterpiece

Richard Ramirez

ARCANE!!!!! :D its english its gorgeous and not too long.. :D would really wow them I think

Richard Ramirez

How is the odd taxi dub, do the jokes still hit?

Ando

Please, watch Erased.

Barhas Gansuh

I agree, the voice actors go off in the sub for Vinland. And the dub for FMAB is timeless

Briana R

Last one I promise 🙈 Castlevania is different

Ruby

to your eternity is UNDERRATED

Briana R

My top five picks 🤗✌🏽 1) Erased 2)Blue eyed samurai 3)Dr. Stone 4) Tokyo Ghoul 5)Finding Neverland

Ruby

Erased or Blue eyed samurai great stories and action or maybe Tokyo Ghoul or Dr Stone

Ruby

Vinland saga season 2 pacing was really slow to me

Ruby

Has anyone seen Blue eyed samurai? What do you think of it

Ruby

But there are soooo many good animes that are completed. I understand your point as well anime do take a while to finish completely especially some of the new age anime that are really good, like Vinland saga or Blue eyed samurai.

Ruby

Please watch Full Metal Alchemist but the original version from 2003... 🥹🥹🥹 (And in DUB)

cincin

I'd love to see them react to Odd Taxi

Orson

Please watch erased it’s a perfect anime for this group and is 1 season of 12 episodes they are gonna love it guaranteed..it’s modern but also a throwback to 80s for them

Acadia

How old are you?

Archer Jay

Claymore or Berserk would be good choices.

Francis Demonteverde

Eh my point is that it's better to do Vinland when we know S3 is coming soon so they can take advantage of the hype + they will have full memory when S3 comes

Julian Cao

orb on the movements of the earth

Archer Jay

There’s anime that people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and so on can enjoy such as Vinland Saga which happens to be a choice here. In another reaction channel, the person is 46 years old and his top three are AoT, Vinland Saga, and Steins;Gate (reacted to this one twice). He dropped FMAB and Re:Zero because they were too “childish.” If this group can tolerate the tropes, then sure why not, but otherwise it’s going to be unbearable for them.

James

Cant say i agree. Thats only one anime in the poll. Why limit yourself that much? It takes over a decade sometimes for an anime to finish. I want to see this channel grow, not burn out into obscurity.

Xan Acktor

You should consider “dark” on netflix. Its not anime but top tier regardless

Hamza Pere

They can complete the two seasons of Vinland Saga and then start a new one. When season 3 comes out, they can a do weekly release.

James

You're missing the point. I'm pretty sure when they decided to do this they were already open to watching something for younger audiences and not necessarily their age. They're probably around 50s and there's no anime that are primarily intended for 50s or 40s. So your argument that they want something mature for their age is just not reasonable. tldr I'm pretty sure they were open to watching their kids' favorite shows, regardless if it has childish tropes or not.

Rex Tan

Better or not is not what I was arguing and also I said I didn't finish it and I even gave it an exception. Did you read?

Gabriel Mendez

Out of the polls I believe they should watch completed anime

Ruby

Yes I agree, they should watch finished anime

Ruby

Please watch "Erased". Its a anime on Netflix

Ruby

Honestly Vinland should be saved when S3 is coming out because who knows when how long we need to still wait for S3....completed shows like FMAB is the better choice for now This is a selfish opinion but I don't think DS should even be an option

Julian Cao

HxH or To your eternity

Scarlowi

Vinland Saga subbed will be so lit holy shit

#Ilovelifebasically

Vinland saga subbed 10x better than dub and FMAB should be watched in DUB

Edwin

Vinland saga subbed please

Edwin

You drunk, it's not better than peakland saga

Sak Chaser

i agree. i watched FMAB in my late twenties and thought "i wouldve probably enjoyed this more if i was 12." i think it's extremely overhyped, but i seem to be in the minority. its looking like theyre gonna watch it after vinland though. mehhh

Mata Kuju

Yes, anime is mostly targeted towards children, teens, and people in their 20s. They said they avoided watching anime because it look like a kids cartoon, so I think they would rather avoid those kind of anime. This group is in their 40s or later, and they are intelligent, so I would imagine they would prefer to watch something that was not intended for 20 year olds such as a show that only has nice animation going for itself or that only has good fight scenes with no story.

James

I voted for Vinland Saga, but Violent Evergarden would be a good choice if it was on the poll. I'm sure they'll get to it at some point.

James

Violet evergarden or Clannad for me. Personally I don't vibe with much of what's in the poll. Sure they're popular but I wouldn't think of any of those as shows I would show my mom to get her into anime, they're a bit childish (young immature cast) for me except for Vinland and frieren but I haven't finished those. I would love to see more diverse well rounded, COMPLETED stories that show off the great things the medium can do and are what I would show off to a new anime viewer. accomplish

Gabriel Mendez

it would be cool if they watch Frieren, it's a newer vibe for them, pretty beautiful and calm

Joao Gabriel

-SPOILER- "... it can feel slow for most people." Aaand you hit the nail right in the head. :) " ... without a lot of the childish anime tropes" In case you missed it, animes are generally for teenagers and young adults. These themes like revenge is bad, you dont have enemies, war trauma, I would argue these are already way over explored not just in anime. In a sense AOT does have these themes in S4, but the story is just richer with lots of unexpected twists and turns. VS doesnt give that, for me at least. "it is because of these tropes that the group avoid watching anime in the first place." I'm pretty sure they started watching anime because their kids are into it, hence they're not necessarily looking for a mature Ted talk on how each life is special and that violence is bad.

Rex Tan

Of course, they're free to choose for themselves, but I'll echo what others have been saying. If the next 2 shows do end up being Vinland and FMAB, then Vinland subbed and FMAB dubbed seems like the best approach.

ChainChompBraden

Not accepting FMAB slander in ramadan sorry 🙏🙏🙏

Mim

You can't add spoiler tags in here, so I won't get into specifics, and this is going to sound vague without directly answering your question. So the original story was supposed to start off with season 2, but the publisher felt like it wouldn't sell in the mainstream market, so the manga artist created season 1. The author has a view on violence in general, and he actually wanted to show readers his view in his previous manga Planetes, but it didn't quite come through. He carefully wrote season 2 so that there is a steady and paced buildup. If you ever study literature and read novels in college, then you won't mind the slow pacing in the beginning, but it can feel slow for most people. However, the slow pacing allows us to connect with the characters, find the characters likeable and maybe even relatable. This connection allows for greater impact in the later part of the story where we do get a glimpse on what the author is trying to say. This is why I recommend Vinland Saga to this group; out of all the choices here, Vinland Saga is the most intellectually stimulating anime without a lot of the childish anime tropes, and it is because of these tropes that the group avoid watching anime in the first place.

James

I don't think they would enjoy FMAB. Sure, it can get serious at times with that show, but that show has a lot of anime tropes to the point where it may become annoying for them. At least for me, I binged it in my early 20s, but with me 38 years old now, it would be hard for me to get into with watching it for the first time.

James

I asked first :p

Rex Tan

It'll be easier for me to respond if you can explain why you don't like season 2.

James

I agree

Vendeholt Reacts

@James I didnt say the story is about the fight scenes. Could you enlighten us what's this "emotionally-driven story with messages from the author"? Just add a spoiler tag so they wouldn't read it.

Rex Tan

FMAB has a great story with plenty of deep motifs and themes that I think they would enjoy.

Cooper Nguyen

Them enjoying death note dub which is widely considered one of the only good ones don’t mean they will enjoy every one lol plus they enjoy sub as well so

Caraxes🐐DT

Couldn’t get into Vinland Saga luckily FMAB may be chosen second hopefully they go with the dub. Perhaps one dub and one sub show at the same time like what we have now

Marcos Olguin

I wonder if they would enjoy "erased"

Ando

I voted one punch man as well for similar sentiments

George Sweezey

The second part of s1 and s2 are the best parts of vinland saga, and that's where the least amount of fights happen lol

Ando

The point of the story isn't about fight scenes at all, and it's a emotionally-driven story with messages from the author.

James

I want them to watch that one too, theye only been watching dark anime

Ando

I agree but they seem to enjoy dub better so I think they should be allowed to choose

Ando

I haven't watched it dub so I can't say if it's good or not, but they seem to enjoy and follow the story with dub better

Ando

Tbh idk why people like vinland saga. Sure there are some awesome fight scenes, but the story is kinda meh esp in S2.

Rex Tan

Totally agreed

Alex P

Finding an anime after Death Note and Attack on Titan is a conundrum. Not because I don't think there are any anime that are better than those two (I do), but it becomes harder to find anime that isn't so specific to the "anime milieu"; which can be tough for newer audiences. Vinland is not a bad place to start, although I still think it has some misplaced goofiness. Of course, maybe the crew won't mind that stuff at all, in which case, ignore me. Another series that doesn't fall into the typical anime trappings is Psycho-Pass. It takes a lot of inspiration from Philip K. Dick material, specifically Blade Runner and Minority Report; very thought-provoking Sci-Fi. Heard a lot of great things about Cowboy Bebop too. Otherwise, if you want them to experience some of the best that anime has to offer, I would definitely not rule out anime films; I feel like most reactors ignore them. Here are some classics: Akira Paprika Wolf Children Ghost in the Shell 1&2 Vampire Hunter D (2000) Princess Mononoke Howl's Moving Castle My Neighbor Totoro (Of course, most Ghibli films would be good to show them, but these are my favorites) The Animatrix (if they've seen the Matrix trilogy) Anyways, sorry for rambling. You've done a good job; I know you won't lead them astray lol

lilrigbus

100% agree, people like this dont gaf about power fantasies theyre middle age regular parents XD. Shows that are more story oriented than turn your brain off and enjoy the action oriented are gonna be much better

david

Dub 100% especially if its gonna be vinland saga. The entire cast is amazing in dub EDIT: make sure you do the netflix dub, not the crunchy roll dub its a lot better

david

You should do dub for the next one. There's a lot of people in the anime community that die on the hill of dub is trash but a lot of dubs are not bad and a lot of people just haven't watched it that way. If you do watch FMA:B that one has to be dub for sure though.

MeltedPoggers

Surprised Frieren is so low

Dooly

If they wanna see "less blood/gore" then Frieren is more tame than the other options on there

Lem D

Dub is only acceptable in some cases mainly it being older anime lol most the dubs are trash

Caraxes🐐DT

Recommendations for anime for this group: - Orb: Movement of the Earth (my pick, and is currently airing) - Steins;Gate - Cowboy Bebop - Terminator Zero (recent, and story is average, but still enjoyable for those who watch the original movies in the 90s) There are other seinen anime I would recommend, but I think those will have to wait until later on.

James

Brotherhood gotta be tied with HxH for the most overrated anime in history wallahi

Kenny

You should do sub for Vinland

Sak Chaser

If they are to choose the second for themselves, then I recommend applying the 3-episode rule where you watch the first 3 episodes of each series and then decide which one to watch.

James

I think you should stay with more modern and popular anime in the beginning to help grow this channel, and then maybe later on, look into older and classics.

James

Also recommend “Kaguya Sama : Love is war” which is one of the highest rated shows with a very different genre and great dub so will feel very fresh for them

Matsumoto Erkin

Folks, lets them experience different kind of enemy for once: One punch man is will feel very different from everything they have seen since it is mostly comedy. a lot lighter and easy to consume

Matsumoto Erkin

I was going to recommend Monster too. 2004 thriller anime doctor journey on run after being framed for murder. Political, emotional, worldly, cult classic

Ronen

That's all I can think of lol what do you have in mind, these were the most popular in the last poll but I will look at any recommendations

Vendeholt Reacts

They don’t seem to get hyped from battles, so what’s the point of watching battle anime? Both of those are good shows, but I feel like Vinland would be a better fit. And I disagree that it’s overhyped, I feel like this show has some of the best writing, directing and animation

Alex P

Vinland is good but i really hope they get to watch FMAB one day. It is a perfect series in my opinion, and it combines the silly comedic element of most anime with the more serious complex plots of animes like Vinland and AOT. Coming from someone who was hesitant to watch FMAB because I thought I couldn’t stand childish things

Mim

I'd love to see you react to Tokyo Ghoul (season 1 at least).

TuEG I x5ucht1x .

Full metal alchemist brotherhood for me, but to be fair vinland came second in the last one so I think it is fair for it to win this one

940mx

Vinland Saga is more suitable for this mature audience 100%

Ashutosh Sharma

Sub or dub. Both are good in Vinland. Lol You can let them pick.

Xan Acktor

AoT, Vinland Saga and Freiren are my top 3 shows, all of them have great animation, writing, plot, characters, themes, soundtrack and direction. They also are examples of least anime tropes and weird humor, so I think that would be a great fit. Out of the two - Vinland is more preferable

Alex P

Vinland saga dubbed

Jay

I really want them to watch demon slayer

Avery Froid

FMAB would be great, but Monster would be perfect.

Hasan Bafuleh

Why only modern animes to choose from?

Pawel

Agreed

MaxShade18

FMAB has a fantastic English DUB! Attack On Titan is the only anime to rival FMAB! Only until recently, AOT dethroned FMAB from the 1# spot in the Anime Category. Plus it is a finished series. I belive Vinland saga is still ongoing.

Johnny Pakilla

Vinland is a seinen no it will give them the wrong impression of what to expect from anime

Gu

Vinland first

Hollywood

Vinland Saga and maybe Frieren are good choices for older adults. The rest are less mature and are more appropriate for people who are in their teens to early 20s.

James

I think FMAB would be a really good one for them all to check out!!!

Reagan N. S.

FMAB has been one of my favorites for years. There just something special about it. I've heard Vinland Saga is great, but I've actually never seen it. As far as dubbed or subbed, FMAB is one of the few animes that actually has a great dub.

Paul Durbin

Vinland saga!!

Paint

Please no FMAB that’s such a PG13 show. I’m not watching them react to a teenager show.

Archer Jay

Subbed for Vinland saga pleeeease

Adam Kaddouri

Dubbed

willie kirts

I’d go FMAB it has a notoriously good Dubbed Version so it’s perfect for them !!!

La.zeke

Vinland Saga and FMAB are massively overrated... Let's go Demon Slayer! Solo Leveling would be great too!

Austi

Sub Vinland and dub FMAB Make both sides happy

Stephen

Vinland saga is the only anime here with a bad dub, the rest are good in dub so they can watch whatever they want.

MaxShade18

Dub full metal alchemist brotherhood lets. Goooo!!!

Fredrick Adjei

Whatever you watch - subs please

Alex P

COME ON VINLAND SAGA LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (FMAB close second)
