"Attack on Titan" is the English translation of the Japanese title "Shingeki no Kyojin," which literally translates to "the Attack Titan or "The Advancing Giant," signifying the story's focus on humans fighting against giant humanoid creatures called Titans, essentially "attacking" them; the "attack" part in the English title captures the idea of humans actively fighting back against these powerful Titans. Key points about the title: "Shingeki" (進撃): This Japanese word means "to advance" or "to attack." "No Kyojin" (の巨人): This translates to "of the giant"

I think it's relevant to let them know this since they've mentioned this multiple times and here again. Shingeki no Kyojin, the show's Japanese title, can be read 2 ways. The word "no" is like an apostrophe in English, BUT it also can serve as a noun modifier aka adjective to the preceding word. For example, mori no tobira. "mori" means forest. "tobira" means door. This can mean with no as a possessive "the forest's door" or with no as adjective "the forest door (a door like a forest)" So then the last piece of puzzle is what Shingeki no Kyojin means. "Shingeki" means "Attack." "Kyojin" means "Titan."

some great thoughts and comments from the group… Note: there was dozens of yellow lightning strikes all around the village (not just the beast) and what we’ve seen so far in the show is that happens when a human changes into titan, both intelligent and non-intelligent (eg. Rod Reese licking the spinal goop and boom… lightning).
