BD - Chapter 112 - Burning Bee-cisions! (Removed for KU)

Author’s Note:

…next time, that is, muahahahahaha! The author, um, definitely doesn’t need more time to think about it. And definitely isn’t hoping lots of readers will express their opinions and make the decision. Definitely not. There’d be a poll if the author was hoping for that!

Because, you know, a lot of this sounds like non-bee stuff so eh. Except for the obviously amazing and incredible parts that the God of Bees collaborated on! Those are obviously the best, Belissar!

Anyways!

What will Belissar decide on? What do the bees think of all this? Will Belissar add something…non-bee related to the Tower? Tune in next time, to find out!

Comments

This is the only right answer /jk! It’s what a defensive player would choose. I’m biased because — Imagine a lot of bee knights wearing bee armor! And fire resistant bee blacksmiths!

No volcano. This is a bee dungeon. God of Fire does not get to play first fiddle in so much as a room. Go with spouts and fuel honey. Fire supporting bees, as it should be.

BelligerentGnu

I honestly think fire resistant bees is the worst option. That's what you have fire bees.

Shiloh Gallaher

There is no last line of defense unless it is like the turtle shade and you can move the hives out of the way. The spawners can not regenerate his hives if he loses them.

Okay, so with the minor blessing from the god of fire he'll get common fire options in the future. Likewise crossperks will be rare but may appear again, so he should take what he can't gamble on missing out on in the future. Therefore he should take the volcano and fire resistant bees. The honey and wax having affects would be good and he should get all those cross perks if he can in time but this specific combination would be the foundation for a room where bees can have hives in a volcano. The bees will adapt to and enhance the environment, process resources from it, and weaponize what they can once they've found the synergy between themselves and that hostile locale. Besides our favorite DM has had and will have plenty of options for small traps, and he's repeatedly concluded he needs something significantly more heavy hitting. He can place the volcano in it's own room before the core as a last line of defense if he doesn't want to have to walk through it all the time. He could also place the production focused bees behind or to the side of it when he gets his next floor. There's no reason an invader should go through that area really. So volcano and fire survivability for bees. Alternatively honey and wax upgrade. Huh, I wonder if the combo of the volcano with all three cross perks could eventually be convinced to manifest as a giant volcano beehive that spewed molten honey and wax lava with various magical effects while bees buzzed about tending unique flora and embers danced and buzzed and stung. Could be fun.

I'm just thinking that the furnaces would make a great beehive for the fire bees...

TheLostGolem

Note that it's only embers and sparks that seek out enemies. Not flaming rocks. Not superheated gasses. I am pretty sure it would not make the vulcano that "safe".

Drakenclaw

Hmm I think it comes down to three synergies. Volcano with swarm to just flood the enemies with fire in one room. Having effects with fire traps to blast enemies in the dirt tunnels. Or try the weird option and fire resistance for bee furnaces. A questionable if it would work option with that last one but a-bee-use-able furnace makes a bee pun. Though pretty certain our protagonist will not think of that one and doubtful they'd think of the volcano one since they missed the auto target effect.

phantom

The fire trap would probably have more synergy with the honey one. Their most likely use is blasting the tunnels with fire at which point the swarm doesn't really help much when everything is already on fire. Well the idea of having just one blast off to create a fire swarm sounds interesting it might make it difficult for non fire bees to participate. Honestly well I like fire fly volcanoes the most practical idea is probably fire trap with various honey effects and just line the dirt tunnel with them.

phantom

Oh a-bee-use-able furnace sounds like an interesting idea.

phantom

Think about the flowers that can grow on the volcano!!

HumbleBee

Maybe it's because I'm a sunk cost fallacy kind of guy but he bought the minerals and felt they were useless I think getting something to make them useful is good and fire resistant bees might be able to turn into metallurgy or blacksmithing bees

Authorii

Bee fire resistance will be helpful against fighting shades. And the other queens/bee will be able to work with the fire bees much more easily. Also, the fire queen/bee won't be lonely, because the others can interact with them without getting uncomfortable.

Wait wait. another thing. The biggest weakness to volcano is it is indiscriminate. The Buzzing Embers gives auto target however. anyways we could have that in the future room that does not cost 20 for mana fire flowers and dub this the "enemies that aren't resistant to fire die room".

phantom

Volcano. It is a huge pain. but a mediocre option is just a waste. and no horrible idea with the pit. Do not spend mana just so bees don't have to drop a radish sliver. That task is not remotely that dangerous. Having the tunnel light up in fire though would be good against the turtle enemy and allow him to target enemies that bypass pits is a solid advantage. But we should factor in the short term Chief Rohsuak could just blast the enemies with fire. It would be one strategy to take the buzzing fire and have a room with just fire bees. Though that is quite a lot of dedication to this one thing. However it is not as much dedication if you consider these perks were only gained from the god of fire anyways. From normal expansion it would only be committing a single room.

phantom

Swarming embers sounds cool as hell not gonna lie. Would have a lot of synergy with the fire trap

Baconwargod

Honeyed fuel and flame spout def have synergy. Bee fire resistance should drastically reduce the difficulty in new bees evolving into fire bees drinking that spicy spucy honey

Beeees!

Welp, loved the chapter. Thanks for writing it. I like the available choices. Definitely going with the fire spout, it's a simple trap that works wonders with the traps belissar already has. Maybe the mini volcano would be an option if it could be placed in the dirt tunnels. Could transform them into volcanic chambers with pools of magma around. Would be interesting but would definitely hinder the kuraq from leaving the tower, and may even disrupt the bees. So I would choose the fire spout even if the mini volcano sounds cool. Lol. The furnace is neat, but really not needed. Especially since they can build their own basic furnace and get a similar choice in the future. The perks are trickier to choose. I don't think burning embers will be that useful. It requires preexisting fires and probably wouldn't have been that helpful against the turtle. Between, the fire resistant bees and the honeyed fuel, I'm leaning more towards the latter. Fire resistant bees is an immediate bonus, but seems like the kind of thing the burning bees will end up covering once their swarm gets big enough. The rest of the bees should have sprayers ready to add fuel to the flames. Literally. Lol. So I would choose the flame spout and the honeyed fuel. Can't wait for tomorrow's chapter.

Fernando Oliveira

Furnace and Fire Resistant Bees of course. Time to make Metal Bees. Hot Heavy Metal Bees!
