BD - Chapter 41 - Do You Bee-lieve in Magic? (Removed for KU)
Added 2023-11-14 20:05:01 +0000 UTCAuthor’s Note:
So one of the Royal Road readers requested flashbacks. I don’t love flashbacks, but hey maybe that’s just the Naruto trauma speaking, so let’s test one out. If the flashback severely improves or un-improves your enjoyment, let me know!
Now back to the future!
Chief Rohsuak seems calm now, but she wasn’t always that way! Good luck Belissar!
You’re gonna need it.
Anyways!
Can Belissar learn the mystic arts from Chief Rohsuak? Will he learn to fight on his own? Will he endure Chief Rohsuak’s...unique training methods? Tune in next time, to find out!

We do have a fairly small sample size of Tower Lords encountered thus far. As for the bear folk's experiences...well, desperate, armed nomads don't always give people great impressions.

2023-11-17 00:16:47 +0000 UTCAlso this chapter make one Wonder what is it that make den masters/tower lords as colletvie act so dickish? After all theyrs are by all aperch time immortal. Have accsecse of near infinet ammount of repeated ressuer generation over time and loyal Army they can re-populted realtive quickly. Have patron that seems to want work white theyrs boht instrest in Mind? And hunger at this point has mutch weaker than, the force this new dungeon lord has bring to bear at low lvl. So what reason is there to turn "free" lador and tax base a way form ones land? Sure one or two rasisti den master or half dosen break ups whit local populaatio that don't want your there is one things but reaptly? Is there corelation number of non mob people on own land and number of shade? Or theyrs lvl? Or is there ohters than gods/patron that affect to den master work?

2023-11-16 22:50:02 +0000 UTCPersonaly, Not a fan of long rag one flashbacks, or ones that dont bring eny new information to bear. This one match the paces of the story and seems to have at least some reason of poping up. And its realative strsight foward. Still Maybe add more hints to who the "boy" is at the being or how MC slip to this memory. So one dosnt just ship over it at start. And read it later full after..

2023-11-15 05:56:10 +0000 UTCFlashbacks should be brief and sparingly used if at all, so this fits, but I could definitely live without.

2023-11-15 00:59:37 +0000 UTCThis flashback felt just right, quick flash to the past. My eyes somet8mes glaze over if there's whole chapters of flashback for example
Beeees!
2023-11-14 23:27:25 +0000 UTCI like flashbacks because it’s good to see more of his character which so far to me has been so-so personally. I feel like one of the hardest parts of these types of stories is getting us interested/invested in the main character and the plots surrounding it.

2023-11-14 22:35:41 +0000 UTCSo we aren't supposed to interrupt climactic battles to insert entire flashback arcs until you've forgotten what was actually happening? Weird.

2023-11-14 22:06:39 +0000 UTCThx for the chapter. Generally flashbacks aren't a bad thing, because they can help a character develop. What i hate is if the flashbacks take a long time of the story, like if the flashback is five chapters long. The ones you do are short and to the point, as long as it stays that way it will improve the story! Only my opinion btw.

2023-11-14 21:34:05 +0000 UTCThe feedback was to show actual scenes of Belissar's backstory instead of having him just mention things in passing, so tried to do that this time. But yeah, idk either, that stuff has a noticeably lack of bees and dungeons!

2023-11-14 20:44:33 +0000 UTCI generally don't like flashbacks, specially as here I'm not sure what did it add to the story and they usually start their own plotlines. So you end up either never resolving those or writing two book in one: the book and the prelude. On the other hand, TTOW had relevant flashbacks without the extra baggage, so who knows?
