As a numerical value, yes, so they can't check the actual amount anymore. But the HP barrier itself is something their bodies have been maintaining (with system assistance) from their birth, so something everyone ends up doing instinctually. Same for mana-assisted strength, speed, etc. Now making that value go up any higher without a nice system of perks and numbers, that's a different story.
