FM - Volume 2 is Now Live!

Note: Terminate the Other World Chapter will drop a bit later, around the normal-ish timing.

Hey Everyone, I am pleased the announce that:

One minute after the scene depicted by the cover: Elise wins the 'find Commander Bob' training exercise and commences an organic refueling session with Commander Bob. Kiyosuke wins the participation award of extra training with the Great Mistress, just like he always wanted.

The Faceless Minion: Nemesis (Volume 2) ebook is now available on Amazon and Kindle Unlimited, this time featuring a certain cyborg! Paperback is ready too, waiting on my author proofs to arrive so I can check for any issues before it goes live, so should be ready sometime next week. To celebrate, Volume 1 will go on sale for a week starting this Sunday (4/9)!

As for non-Amazon hard copy options, still waiting on me to work up the will to reformat the entire Volume 1 (for not the first time...) to be compatible with other marketplaces. So...um...we'll see?

Most of the changes here aren’t as dramatic as the Volume 1 ones I feel, though I suppose that might be debatable. After all, Volume 1 had a much different vision than Volume 2, which in turn set the tone for the rest of the series, so this is the part of the story Volume 1 was rewritten to match haha. As a result, I generally focused on expanding and refining the content rather than changing it, though there is at least one major character change that would count as a rewrite.

Here are some of the bigger changes. Note that these may contain spoilers if you haven't finished reading Volume 2 (possibly beyond?):

Likewise, other smaller optimizations and additions here and there to match up what was changed in Volume 1 and what is planned for Volume 3 and beyond!

Author's Note:

Muahahahahaha! Tremble and despair, you inferior buffoon! For I, the superior Icalos, have returned!

Gasp, Editing Icalos, you’re back! And you’re…um…kind of weak this time? What happened to all your power?

…d-don’t look at me like that! This is your fault you know! Volume 2 is like…the least problematic part of this thing! There was very little power for me to obtain here!

Is that why there aren’t that many changes?

H-Hey, come on man! What do you want from me? You want me to change Elise’s backstory, huh?

You touch Elise and I schedule you for immediate termination.

That’s exactly my point! Even if I wanted to, any actual changes would introduce plot inconsistencies with your new novel! I had to rewrite Arvid just to manifest myself again!

…right. So do I need to get the writathon LitRPG again or will you see yourself out this time? Since there’s no way you do anything when you’re weaker than before.

…fine. But be careful, inferior Icalos. For I will be back! And the next volume…oh the next volume! There…I shall have my revenge!

Eh, we’ll see about that. It’s not like there’s a super problematic arc that would cause Evil Editing Icalos to massively grow in power…right?

Anyways!

Has the weakling Editing Icalos been defeated for good? Will he find anything in the next Volume to grant him absurd amounts of power? Why is the novel still monetized if Editing Icalos was too weak to take power? Tune in next time, to find out!

A symptom of it starting as an episodic gag novel that was only later connected into an actual story lol. The ones labeled [EDITED VERSION] are directly from the Kindle Version, so that is what can be expected if those are the ones you read (if not, you can use them to determine if it's changed). I will say that frequent POV switches are a consistent element of that novel's style since the MC does a lot of his work in the background and side characters are responsible for most of the actual fights, though the story's timeline and plot does slow down and move into longer overall arcs after around the first third of Volume 1 or so. However, part of the novel's goal is 'different events coalesce into the mastermind's plan' so a bit of disjointedness is likely present throughout, I do try to have the MC explain how things connect at the end of arcs but that may not help the initial reading experience if it's hard to get through.

I tried to read the beginning on royalroad, but it's a bit disjointed. I do like your work, but I have trouble with following rapid changes. Is the kindle version edited or does that calm down pretty fast? I was a bit lost. I'd be more than willing to put in some effort if it does. :)
