The not TLDR possibly spoilery answer is I'm thinking of the Realms of Mana as mechanically similarly to the Fade/Warp. Something along the lines of the material world gets reflected onto a part of the Source closest to it, and so the pure mana there starts changing to match whatever was reflected. So...like...anything that exists or that enough people think/feel about could hypothetically become an 'attribute' or 'affinity', though practically speaking many are not strong enough to care about. Thus why there's a cyborg affinity...or rather it was NSLICE-00P's arrival in the world that created said affinity in the first place, though it is not well defined yet due to lack of subject material to reflect.
