You don't know how long I've been waiting for a commentary on River Song. Never liked her character even though it's such a brilliant idea for a time travel show, and I'm glad to see my views reflected when such a large part of fandom adores her

2023-12-18 17:51:09 +0000 UTCI didn't really think much of the river song comments about being a screamer when I watched it when it came out but now on reflection it just feels weird and off for what doctor who is. Then I realised I think Moffat was trying to grow the show up with the fans. When it started back in 2005, it was assumed that children would be watching the show but 6 years later, the children that started were then teenagers so maybe Moffat was writing to reflect that? Instead of making it a family type show but with some adult stuff like the RTD (1) era was, he was trying to make it into a show aimed at teenagers to reflect who he assumed was watching at the time 🤷♂️
