Well, well, well - wasn't that special?!
What a 60th Anniversary! We really were spoiled, weren't we? 'The Star Beast' was a genuine triumph that seems to have catapulted Doctor Who back into the hearts and minds of Mingmongs and Not-We's everywhere. Beating I'm A Celeb is one thing, but internationally Doctor Who is currently "hovering between the 4th and 2nd spots in the countries where Disney's streaming platform is available".
A huge congratulations to the team behind his relaunch.
So, following on from our really successful live stream this past Sunday morning, we're going to miss out on doing it again for 'Wild Blue Yonder'! Classic. Unfortunately, our schedules clash and we'll have have to wait until Sunday night (UK)/Monday morning (NZ) to get our thoughts down, but hopefully that means UK folk can get their earholes and eyeballs around it by Monday morning (UK). Hopefully that won't be the case with 'The Giggle', but we'll keep you all updated on that.
Here's a provisional schedule for the pod from Monday 4 November till the end of the year...
The pod may very well take a short break at the start of the new year so we can work out the plan for the first quarter of 2024, especially with Ncuti's first series on the horizon, but you can certainly expect reviews of 'The Daleks' and 'The Underwater Menace' to crop up in January/February.
Patreon content is going to be quiet for December as you can see, only because the mainline RoD eps have become a weekly affair as the TV show goes out. That will be the case for Series 14 too, but don't worry, we have a backlog of ideas for Patreon in 2024 which will be our first full year producing content for you lot.
Thanks again and always for your continued support on the podcast. It's still mind-blowing that so many of you are here and we love each and every interaction we receive. We can't thank you enough for helping us keep the purple and green flames burning. Just looking at the 2023 RoD Schedule, filling up the last few cells on the spreadsheet, I'm overwhelmed just looking at the volume of content we've produced in 2023 and it would not have been possible without you.
We're breaking all sorts of personal viewership and podcast chart records. It's so gratifying to see the hard work pay off. If you know any Whovians who would love a bit of RoD in their lives, let them know we're here!
RoD on, gang,
- RoD ππ
P.S. Psst! Don't tell anyone, but the opening titles were indeed truncated. Six seconds of material was cut and an alternative version prepared with a fully animated 3D logo, but it was dropped for some reason. We don't reveal what else was omitted in case the production team can get it to a standard they're happy with for Ncuti's first season...
