RoD Update (12/12/2013)

Happy Very-Nearly Christmas/Festive/Holiday/Stressful time, everyone!

Let's be honest - the supermarkets have been decking the halls since before Halloween, so it's no surprise Indoor Tree Season has kicked off! Get everything in nice and early people - don't disappoint Nan or we'll be hearing about it.

Anyway, time to rundown the RoDcast for the next few weeks. Our plans to record this week have been scuppered by the beast that is Yogcast's Jingle Jam event - don't worry, we'll be back in next week in time for the Xmas special! Can't tell you all how weird it is being in the office after normal working hours and experiencing the hustle and bustle of this amazing charitable operation - although, as far as we could see, it was just a lot of eating takeaways and downing cans of lager before stumbling onto one of a number of live streams happening across the day.

The technical team at Yogscast continue to be the beasts behind-the-scenes making sure we're seen and heard - shout-outs to TJ (who handles the remote recording and ingest of the audio portion of the production) and Pierre, who furnished Billy with the Yogs Wi-Fi for the first time since entering the building some 4/5 years ago.

Current RoD Schedule (mid-Dec 2022/Jan 2023)

Still to come: an animated special looking at Doctor Who's cartoon adventures in the 2000s, the 2023 RoDies and a two-parter where the boys try to salvage something from two of their least favourite eras. There is also a behind-the-scenes special in the works, shot during the recording of the Totally Doctor Who commentary (with a bonus Patreon edit featuring loads of extra stuff). Plus, tentative plans to shoot something a bit different (something that has been in the works for years) before Billy jumps on his flight to NZ in mid-March.

Once the move happens, the plan is to shoot ahead of time so there isn't a big or major gap in regular releases. Obviously, the dynamic will change shooting the podcast in two different continents/timezones/hemispheres, but we're already talking about what the pod will look like in this brave new world. We'll still be providing Patreon exclusives (likely to be more commentaries alongside our semi-regular Q&As and most certainly reviews and discussions on things outside of the Whoniverse - i.e. Red Dwarf, 007, Star Wars, etc). Anything you guys fancy seeing from the Terrible Twosome between now and March 2023? And what would you like to see us do once the podcast is recorded remotely?

That's about it for now gang. Thank you all so much for your continued support of the podcast. You have no idea what it means to us and what it'll mean for the show after March next year. You are allowing us to continue making RoD on opposite sides of the world. Wow. You're all wonderful.

Speak soon Freaks + Geeks,

- RoD xx

Comments

I'd like to see you guys talk about Edge of Destruction and S1 in general for the 60th year. It's so strikingly modern, a true bottle episode and the scene with Hartnell turning around to be alone by the console, as if we're inside his head, is insanely out-there for 1964 Doccy Who

The Eight Dice

Paradise Towers!, I hope I’m not the only one who thinks that it’s one of the best story’s of the late 80s
