Hello you crazy cats,
It's the end of August basically. There's a Bank Holiday on the cards for us in the UK and I've just failed my driving theory test again. Aced the multiple choice bit (failed that first time) and cocked up the hazard perception test (smashed that first time). Grr.
Anyway, greetings to our new RoDers! So lovely to have you here. Hope you've taken the time to go back through the posts to enjoy some of the bonus content we've already put out. Thanks for your support, it is massively appreciated.
Here's what's going down in Groove Town.
Yesterday was supposed to mark the release of our interview with the Head of Creative Development at Character Options - and chief of the company's Doctor Who toy line - Al Dewar. It is a cracking episode of the podcast and both Matt and I are so excited to get it out there.
After we screened the episode to Al and made some edits based on his feedback (something we also did with Chris Chapman's interview), he asked to submit it to a PR team at the BBC to get their thoughts. This wasn't something we anticipated happening, but that is what has delayed the release of Ep33. Al says he has had his knuckles rapped by the BBC for saying things publicly which he didn't consider to be at all controversial and he is simply keen to protect the relationship between himself, Character Options and the BBC/Doctor Who.
He let them know it was due to release on the 25th August but we just didn't get the all-clear from them in time. We're not in direct contact with the PR team or a represenitive of theirs either so we have no time frame on when to expect to hear back from them. It's crap, but it's the situation we're in. Lesson learned. We will shout all about it on Twitter and Instagram (and of course in a Patreon post) as soon as we can put it out!
In the pipeline for RoD - 'The Abominable Snowmen', the 'Plastic Treachery' in-vision commentary and our preview + review of Jodie Whittaker's final story as the Doctor. We'll also be doing a round-up retrospective of her era on the programme, so expect to see a survey/poll make the rounds in the next few weeks so we can collect some hard data on your thoughts and feelings towards it (because who doesn't love numbers?).
All the best,
- RoD xx
