This week has been mainly about working on the sneak peek. It turned out to be a whole lot more work than I hoped it would be, but now it's done and I've turned my attention back to the story.
I have one animation and around 20% remaining on the Lexi route. And I have to tell you that I love her route. There's something very nice and goofy about it. Being both complex and simplistic built into one.
Checking on the render count, we're at 1354 animated frames and 309 static renders.
The next week I will resume the normal 'static renders during the day, animations during the night' - routine, now that the demanding Lexi renders are coming to an end, and then move on to Linda.
I've included a poll this week for you to participate in if you're interested. It's about Chris and whether he should (or should not) be paired up with a LI of his own. The story is already written when it comes to Chris, but the poll will give me a good indication of if I got it right, or failed miserably. In case of the latter, I will probably consider a partial rewrite.
You can choose several options that you feel is right.
And on that note, I'll pop a beer, put on my bunny slippers, lay my feet on the desk, and ... render some more. Happy weekend to you.

i mean that it will waste too much renders if you have to make more than 1 Li for Chris, he is not the mc, having 1 girl for him should be enough otherwise it will be too many renders for something that some of us dont even care at all. Then give him Christine but no more girls otherwise it will be too many renders for him and I prefer not adding to the workload that you already have with the game having many branches etc

2020-10-29 15:05:22 +0000 UTCI just thought I should mention this to avoid any confusion. Any choice given in the game will add to the rendering queue. Personally, I don't mind if it makes for a better story. Though, giving Chris a completely new girl (including Christine, as she'll be new to the story) is by far the most time consuming render-job. In any case, you will not loose content with the existing li's, but the release schedule will of course be affected.

Even if your choice isnt chosen, it still feels like the you(dev) cares about the player's intake on the game and is both willing and flexible enough to shift things around for the best enjoyment. So, i'm all for polls! (My choice for the previous "Part4 poll" was definitely Cece and Steph, and thus I was very very happy for the release ;)

Though we as players do not know her yet, our MC does and did not have romantic feelings for her, he was still moaning over Steph and had other interests when he came out of that period. So basically it is already canon MC is not interested in her and you could even put that on slightly bigger with her introduction. :)

Now if you see the relation between Kira and Robin as way less deep it could work, but still think new girl, Holly or Christine makes much more sense for Chris and way less trouble with other paths already established. :) I ould expect Robin to feel betrayed though in episode 4 if she loses both Kira and MC and not to be in romantic mood.

2020-10-23 12:52:19 +0000 UTCIn order to explain Robin and why it might make sense, here's my take. Or actually, having written a wall of text, I realized that it is a huge spoiler. But if you turn around a few things, you will actually see that it makes a whole lot of sense to include Robin. :)

The problem arises when I introduce that girl to the game, and that girl is the spitting image of the readers mind of what a girl should look and be like - the inevitable question will at some point arise: can you add an ending where we can end up with Chris' girl?

2020-10-23 12:41:13 +0000 UTCThere I strongly disagree with you, not to be an ass, just my take on them. Robin and Kira are a long term item, where they decided to add MC in due to feelings Kira has for him and Robin also thinks he is cute and makes the right moves, while they might also have been looking to spice things up a bit. Robin might have some interest, but her focus is Kira and that relation unless MC takes Kira away and breaks them off. Now that would be quite a blow for Robin. Yes that comfort Chris could give might lead to something long term but not in 4. If MC chooses Robin or Kira+ Robin or neither there would be no reason yet for them to turn to Chris, since they have eachother in the one choice and there is no Kira-Chris relation established at all and guess Kira would feel pretty lousy and not much in a lighthearted or flirting happy mood if just lost both MC and Robin. So even either of those two at least not fast. Maybe something for episode 6 or so. :) That could work. Even if it is a nice trip and they bond, for 4 or 5 girls something more or less negative will happen (since there focus until now is mainly on MC) that they will have to move on from and that may not take weeks but also not an hour unless those attractions and feelings were very light (Steph obsessing MC two years, Linda even longer having hots MC, Kira and Robin having a relation together for years), not the moment to immediately start a new relation, maybe some rebounding, but not relation. :P

I'm going for a new girl, each of the girls has already expressed interest/preference... they have all already met Chris and accept him as friend but have not shown a romantic interest... so I'd like to see a new girls come in that is head over heals for him and has no interest in the MC...

'Giving' him Robin, will work fine and all, until the point where you want to persue Robin on your own. That will leave Chris with nobody, or ea. Kira. Where I can render the exact scenes over again with Chris and Kira instead of Chris and Robin. But it will end up weird from a readers PoV seeing the exact same thing with different girls.

When it comes to build-up, I'd say that this is a nice trip for them all where they bond and basically anything can happen. Storywise, ea. Robin and Kira doesn't seem to need much build-up. :p
