UPDATE POST – Back from Hiatus

(TLDR at the end if you don’t feel like reading this wall of text)

Hi everyone!

First off—and most importantly—I want to sincerely apologize for not posting these past few months. I’ll explain the reasons behind my hiatus later in this post, but I felt it was necessary to begin with an apology to all of you for not keeping my promise. It’s entirely my fault for not following through on my responsibilities. On that note, I also want to apologize for not having the foresight to make a post earlier. In my selfishness, I didn’t realize how long I’d end up being away... so for that, I’m truly sorry.

WHY I WAS ON BREAK:

There were a few reasons why I haven't been uploading, and one of the primary ones was: my health.

(Side note: I don’t know why, but it feels like every artist ends up with some kind of health issue 😭😭)

Not too long ago, I noticed a pretty noticeable lump on my body that was sometimes very uncomfortable. During that time, I had to visit the doctor frequently because I was also feeling weak and lethargic. After some tests, they discovered a mass (2.3 x 2.7 x 1.4 cm) on my upper body. Unfortunately, due to my family medical history, I have a higher risk of developing cancer.

Thankfully, at my most recent ultrasound appointment, the doctor claimed that the tumor is noncancerous/malignant! They said it will hopefully shrink over the next 6 to 12 months. If not, I’ll likely just have to live with it (though it does get really tender and annoying sometimes…). As for the fatigue and weakness, they’re not sure if it’s related to the mass or just something else entirely. I was prescribed medication to help with the nausea.

The second reason was mental health. Without getting too personal, there were some things going on behind the scenes—stuff outside my control—that really sent me into some kind of spiral. It pushed me into a depressive state, and I ended up losing all motivation to be productive… which is why I didn’t draw much during that time.

Lastly—and probably the most unprofessional reason—I kind of fell out of love with the current Genshin updates. I still find Natlan fun and conceptually interesting, but for some reason, none of the new characters really clicked with me. However, I did find the introduction of Ifa super compelling, and I think I might enjoy the next update more because of him! I’ve already drawn him a few times, hehe;;

That said, I did still draw here and there during my hiatus. Not often, and most of it didn’t feel post-worthy—but I’ve compiled a small dump that I think are okay-ish. I’ll be uploading that art dump about an hour after this post goes up!

Recently, I’ve been feeling inspired to draw again, and I’m starting to get my motivation back. Hopefully, I’ll be able to brainstorm and post some more comics soon! 🫶🫶

TLDR:

I had a cancer scare, wasn’t in a great mental state to draw, and battled with art block and a lack of interest in Genshin all at the same time. I want to sincerely apologize to everyone for my poor judgment. I hope you can forgive me just this once!! <3 <3 <3
