2025-11-28 22:04:53 +0000 UTCI'm with you on this one. Ueno is a bitch, but Kawai makes me furious with how she acts. I just wish she got more comeuppance than she did. But then, I guess that's not what the story is about.

2025-11-27 13:51:04 +0000 UTCIn my opinion Miki Kawai is "worse" than Naoka Ueno in A Silent Voice due to her lack of self-awareness and her manipulative nature compared to Ueno's more honest, though still cruel, aggression. While Ueno eventually shows remorse and development for her actions, Kawai denies her role in bullying, acting like an innocent "angel," which makes her actions seem more malicious to because she never truly takes responsibility. Even in the chapter of the manga that is focused on her she is shown to have a distorted perception of events that make her out to be innocent and pure in her head.

2025-11-26 11:25:38 +0000 UTCThis is still an amazing film to me, Not one scene is wasted, and I agree the first half set in the school is really hard to watch, The school did nothing to stop the bullying, the fact that the teacher even allowed Ishida to be bullied afterwards is awful. I would be happy if it turned out he lost his job. Also another part of the movie which was not winned as its a great parallel, earlier in the movie when Shouya is trying to be friends with Nishimiya he waits for her, even placing the umbrella over her and than later Nishimiya does the exact thing with bitch I mean Ueno its a great parallel . The entire voice cast does a fantastic job throughout. I want to see the Manika do a small spin off of everyone enjoying the festival or just see what the characters get up to after the movie's events. When I saw this movie in cinemas I remember gasping when Nishimyia goes over the balcony and Nishimiya falls, I tottally forgot or didn't notice that it was the bullies that pulled him out. (The ones that were his friends in the first half.) I'm so happy to see this film winned.
