One Boy's Journey Chapter 20

I woke up just after 8 am. I did my routine and therapy. I had my light blue babydoll nightie on. I put on my mules and matching robe. I went down and started coffee and hot water for Tea. I made espresso coffee for Cathy. We were meeting at the Park's at noon. Dinner was at 1 pm.

Cathy was the first one down, and Caleb was about a minute behind her. Cathy was wearing a lacy bodysuit with a black robe and mules. I studied her movements. She's just so elegant and graceful. Caleb was barefoot, wearing pajama pants and a 3/4 cut under Under Armour muscle T-shirt. He is very handsome and built too.

Coffee or Tea? I asked.

Coffee please, Caleb said. Tea please said Cathy. They sat right next to one another almost snuggling in front of me. I thought it was cute.

How long have you been married I asked.

Over 4 years said Caleb. Marrying Cathy was the best decision I ever made, Caleb kissed Cathy on the lips.

I hope I find someone who loves me like Caleb loves you. I said.

Don't be fooled, I love Caleb but he can be a handful at times.

Ohhh!!! And you can't? Caleb said with a smile.

We giggled together.

Ree I loved the halftime show. You girls were great out there. I saw the C on your uniform, Are you the squad captain? Asked Caleb.

One of three, my friends Lexi and Emma are Captains as well. We each have a squad.

I've never heard of JV cheerleaders performing with the Varsity squad before, stated Cathy.

It happened during Cheer camp. The coaches wanted to do a special Cheer for the homecoming game. We don't cheer for the game just the halftime show.

I love the song, very upbeat, Rihanna's "Only Girl," said Caleb.

That started as half a joke, half serious, directed at me by my friends Emma and Lexi, But it stuck, and everyone loved it.

I'm so glad you guys came to visit. I said.

We are, too, Ree. I am so excited about Christmas this year, said Cathy.

Why's that? I asked.

Well, we are coming into town next month for your Ballet recital; I get to see your mother again. To top it off, we will all be together at my parents' place for Christmas!

I thought you went to Michigan to see Caleb's grandpa.

We normally do. But he has a trip to Australia and he and Danielle can't postpone it.

Who's all going to be there? I asked.

All of us, like last time, Becky, Bree, and Ian, and their 3 children. Caleb's sister Terri and her husband Steve. It's going to be great, said Caleb. Which reminds me you better pack some clothes for the cold. It gets a bit cold in the winter.

Aunt V walked down the stairs. She was wearing a dark cherry nightgown and matching robe and mules. Aunt V went to grab the coffee.

I said It's espresso! Thanks Ree!

Cathy and I sipped Tea while they had coffee.

Anyone for eggs? 2 eggs and toast, please, says Caleb.

I'm going to wait for dinner said Cathy,

Me too, I said Aunt V. I decided to wait too. If I know the Park family like I do, Mrs Park will have a big feast.

I made Caleb his eggs and cleaned up the kitchen. I put on my swimsuit and cap and decided to do some laps.

Caleb came out and said want some company. Caleb was in swim trunks. He was extremely fit! I didn't see a single body hair on him.

We did 20 laps. He was about to get out when I started a few more. Not wanting to be outdone by a girl, he stayed and did a few more. I was at 25 and I was still at my pace. He sped up his pace,

I stayed right beside him. He sped up some more I stayed right beside him. At 29 laps I sped up on him. He stayed beside me. I could tell he was getting tired; I was feeling it, too.

Cathy was watching from the Living room. I got 31 laps and went all out. Caleb would not give up. Caleb beat me by half a stroke. We got out, Caleb was exhausted, and so was I.

Well, that is something I thought I'd never see! My husband almost lost to a girl.

Aunt V was behind Cathy smiling. Caleb being the classic gentleman I took him for, said I am very impressed.

So am I said, Cathy.

Well, I am not surprised at all, said Aunt V.

Cathy looked at me, then Aunt V.

She swims all the time. She is going to try out for the swim team in February.

Well, I'd say she's ready! Stated Caleb.

She sure is said, Cathy.

It was almost 10 am. Cathy was still in rollers.

Can you help me with the rollers Ree?

Sure, Cathy, just let me shower quickly. I showered and put on a pink bodysuit and purple leggings. I brought Cathy into my room, and we started removing the rollers. Her hair took the curls pretty well. I noticed her tummy again.

Cathy, is there something going on here? I pointed at her stomach.

Ree!!!

Cathy??

Okay, but you can't tell anyone, including Vanessa.

Why? I asked.

Two reasons. One, I wanted to surprise my parents, and two, I wanted them to be the first to know.

Are you???

Pregnant! said Cathy.

Ohhh!!! I tried to stay quiet. I gave her a huge hug. I'm so happy for you both.

No one knows Ree! That's the way it has to stay. My Mom and Dad have been wanting a grandchild since Caleb and I got married.

Even Becky and Bree don't know. I want to tell everyone at Christmas. Caleb and I have a plan.

Your secret is safe with me. But don't be surprised if Aunt V notices; she doesn't miss much. How can you tell I hardly show?

Cathy, you are my role model. I watch and listen to you, like I'm studying a book.

I spoke a little Korean to her, and she smiled. Where did you learn that?

John taught me a little. I wanted to Impress his family.

I'm impressed with you Ree.

You made a great impression on me, Cathy. You are the big sister I wish I had. We both teared up.

Let me brush this out. Her hair was beautiful.

Cathy, can you show me how to do my makeup and hair in Korean style and maybe tie my hair up?

Certainly little sister. Let me get changed first. Get yourself dressed and put on your foundation and I will be back.

I was so excited and happy for them. I did my foundation, and I put on my matching bra, panties, and camisole. Cathy and I did our makeup side by side. I was enjoying our time together. Cathy always has been patient with me. The more time I spent with her the better I felt about myself.

Don't get me wrong, I love and adore my Aunt V. Cathy just talks to me like the big sister I always imagined. By 11:30 am, Cathy, Aunt V, and I were ready. Caleb drove us.

We arrived at noon. Like last time, John came out, opening doors and helping us out. Caleb walked Aunt V and Cathy in. I took John's arm and we walked in together. John and I watched the kitchen as Mrs Park gave them the nickel tour.

Jii came out to Caleb and shook his hand. Jii grabbed two beers from the fridge and handed one to Caleb. Jii led Caleb to the backyard. Caleb was very impressed with the landscape. It was mostly Korean style with a touch of American for practicality due to the summer heat Vegas is known for.

John and I were by ourselves in the Kitchen. We stole Kisses until we heard his sister coming downstairs. They were in their dresses; they were so adorable.

Ree!!!! They exclaimed when they saw me.

I hugged them both. They saw Caleb and smiled. Caleb kneeled and they rushed to him. You're a giant they said.

Yes, but I am a friendly giant. He picked them both up at the same time.

You two are very pretty said Caleb. He set them down and they spun around for him. Jii just smiled. The ladies returned to the kitchen and Cathy asked if she could help.

Yon and Cathy started speaking Korean while the food was being prepared. Aunt V was listening and smiling. We quietly went upstairs to his room. We were just listening to music and holding hands. We were kissing softly.

If you had told me 6 months ago I would have been the girlfriend of the cutest guy in high school, I would have said you're crazy. But here I sit with him.

I was crazy about him. We stood up and he kissed me. He pulled me close. His hands were on my lower back. I loved the way he held me; I felt safe, protected, and cherished.

With my arms around his neck, I pulled him in for another kiss. We decided to go downstairs before anyone noticed we were gone too long.

Yon (Mrs Park) asked John and I to set the table.

Jii (Mr Park) and Caleb were watching the football game right up to the last second. Jii and Caleb really hit it off. Cathy and Aunt V were helping in the Kitchen most of the time. John's sisters were always trying to get Cathy's attention. Those little girls were adorable.

Dinner was fantastic, The turkey was like most turkeys, juicy with a little extra zest to it. Yon made mashed potatoes and stuffing. There was a chicken fried rice side dish and cranberries.

Cathy loved Korean coffee. Caleb and John looked like they were having a contest of who could eat more. It made me smile. John's sisters were captivated by Cathy. They wanted to know everything about her. Yon loved Cathy's Hair.

Yon asked me surprisingly, You did her hair?

Yes, I did, I said proudly.

I may have to have you do mine; Korean hair is almost impossible to curl, Yon said.

You have to sleep in rollers all night, said Cathy, but it's worth it!

Yon gave me a smile of approval, Aunt V was smiling too. Jii got up and showed Caleb the trophy case. Caleb was impressed.

Caleb was an accomplished athlete himself. When he saw the Olympic gold and silver medals in the pictures he was very impressed. Jii told us John was invited to compete in the Korean/US tournament in June next year. Jii explained that his grandfather represented Korea when he was his age. If John wins, our family will be the first to win on both sides.

Caleb asked, Are you coaching the American team?

No my friend Master Moon is. Kim Moon is a highly sought-after trainer and trains most of the US Martial arts teams. Jii and Kim have been best friends since grade school.

Jii explained that their grandfathers were recruited by the US Army to train special operations soldiers during the Vietnam War. That's how they immigrated to the US. Caleb and Cathy were impressed and proud to know these proud people.

I made blueberry empanadas for dessert for everyone. Everyone loved them.

Where did you learn to make these, asked Yon

Our housekeeper Martina taught me.

John said well I'm impressed!

So am I said, Jii.

Jii just smiled and nodded to me. I nodded back in return, and so did Yon.

Mom we're going to go for a walk.

Okay honey, be careful you two. I went to the bathroom and removed my lipstick. We were going for a "walk" and I wanted to be ready for a kiss or two.

John never disappoints me, we went for a walk. We found a secluded spot and held me close, his hands were just above the top of my ass. His grip was firm but had a genuine feeling of affection. I felt secure and safe with him. We kissed deeply. My nipples were hard, and my mind was swooning with passion. I could tell he was turned on by our embrace.

Ree we, we, need to get back!

It ruined our moment, but I knew he was right.

You're right, hon! I traced my fingernail across his cheek. We softly kissed her, took my hand, and we walked back to the house. As we walked back he put his arm around my waist.

You are so beautiful, Ree.

Thanks, handsome, I said.

We walked inside the front door. Aunt V was chatting with the Parks and Cathy. Caleb had John's sisters on each knee, bouncing them up and down. I could see Cathy's glow. I wonder if I was the only one that saw it.

We said our goodbyes and thanked them for a wonderful dinner. I gave John a peck on the cheek, the Parks smiled.

John's sisters were all eww!

We all laughed.

Caleb drove us home.

Aunt V asked, So Cathy, something you and Caleb want to share with us?

Share? Cathy asked.

Come on Cathy! I'm a practicing psychiatrist! You drank half a cup of coffee and tea this morning and half a glass of wine, and you avoided the shrimp fried rice and the kimchi. How far along are you?

Caleb glanced in the rearview mirror at Aunt V; I looked straight ahead, ignoring the comments.

Aunt V looked straight at me. You knew, too?

Okay, okay, Vanessa, you caught me. Yes, I am almost 10 weeks along.

Cathy, I am so happy for you two.

Ree???? Cathy asked.

I swear I didn't say a word!

She didn't say a thing, Cathy.

Good because you can't either! Not to anyone! Rebecca and Bree don't even know and that's the way it stays until Christmas morning!

My parents have been after us for grandchildren. My mom most of all. I want to tell them at Christmas. I figured news of a grandchild would be the best gift ever.

You're right about that, said Aunt V.

Caleb and I have a plan. If you talk to my parents you can't say anything. Ree, I know you talk with my mom; she loves you, by the way. You have to swear right now not a word, both of you.

We swear not a word Cathy. I wanted them to be the first. Caleb said you two would probably figure it out.

Told ya so! Caleb giggled.

Cathy slugged his arm. Caleb changed the subject.

Ree, you're going to be very busy with the recital only a few weeks away. Caleb said.

Yes, and I am so excited too. My mom and Mr Milford are coming, the Parks are coming and you two are going to be there. I wish your parents could be there Cathy.

Me too, but Dad has to keep an eye on the vineyard, and Mom is cooking up a storm.

They love company, and Ree, don't be surprised if my mother smothers you a bit.

I was counting on it!

Cathy and I giggled. We got back to the house and got ready for bed. Cathy asked me to roll her hair one last time. I was wearing a bodysuit neglige for bed and my satin robe.

You've come a long way, Ree.

Thanks, Cathy. I mean it!

You're as much a girl as any girl I know. Wait until you meet my sister-in-law Terri. Caleb's sister. She's transgender, too, and very pretty. You two are going to hit it off!

Caleb speaks very highly about her, I can't wait to meet her.

Ree?

Yes!

Am I imagining things or are your breasts bigger?

I'm a C-cup now! Wow! My little sister is blooming, said Cathy.

I finished her hair and she kissed me goodnight. I started my dilation, all I could think about was John's embrace.

Sunday morning, Aunt V and I took Cathy and Caleb to the country club for brunch. We introduced them to our friends Taylor and Lexi and Linda and Emma.

We bumped into a bunch of cheerleaders both JV and Varsity. I waved Shelly over and introduced her to Cathy and Caleb.

Shelly said so you, the woman Ree always talks about.

Cathy Elgin, pleased to meet you.

You know Ree here really looks up to you, now I see why.

Ree talks about you quite a bit too!

I started blushing.

Ree is a great ballerina. Are you going to be at our recital?

We wouldn't miss it said Caleb.

Caleb, Right?

Ree talks about you too. I have to go now, it was nice meeting you.

You as well Shelly. Shelly smiled, spun around, and left.

I can see why you like her said Cathy. You really made a wonderful life out here.

I have a pretty good life out here, but I can't take credit for it. Lexi and Emma have been great friends. I would not be where I am without my friends.

Aunt V and everyone smiled. We finished a great brunch and we drove Cathy and Caleb to the airport.

We hugged them and said our goodbyes. Cathy reminded us. Not a word you two, to anyone! We promise I said. We started our way home.

Looks like it could be a very festive Christmas this year, said Aunt V.

I want to get Cathy and Caleb a baby gift for Christmas.

We should get them a couple of things. Let's go shopping, Ree!

Lead on Aunt V.

We stopped at the mall. We went into the Maternity store. We got Cathy two nightgowns with slip-on slippers to match. We went to the bookstore and bought them a baby name book.

I was so excited for them. It almost feels like I am having a new little brother or sister coming. Knowing Cathy and Caleb are expecting and how they want to tell May and Hank. I can't wait for Christmas now.

You know Aunt V, I was excited before about Mom and Mr. Mumford coming for Christmas; I was even more excited about visiting May and Hank at the vineyard. Now I am super excited about the baby.

Well just relax and remember you have a recital coming up. I know Aunt V, I know. So, is there anything you want to share about last night?

Not really.

Come on Ree... Okay, John and I kissed.

Just kissing!

Yes, Aunt V, I swear. He held me close but he never inappropriately touched me.

You're only 14 he's 16, I worry.

You know I talked to your Spanish teacher. She said you and Anita are her best students. You should invite her over some weekend. Come to think of it, we never did have a birthday party for you.

Have you thought about a party? I was thinking about it, but we've been so busy. How about we have a party on Martin Luther King weekend?

That's a great idea, Aunt V.

Now you have to make a guest list. That's not a problem. Lexi, Emma, The cheer squad, Shelly, Kelly and Cheryl.

Cheryl? Are you sure Ree?

Yes, we had gym class last period. We've been working together in gym class. If I don't invite her it would send the wrong signal.

That's forward-thinking, Ree; I like that.

I just smiled at my Aunt V.

The next 2 weeks went really fast. I was busy with Karate, Ballet, and Saturday afternoon gymnastics. I hardly ever had a moment to myself. Most Fridays and every Saturday night were reserved for John and I. Emma and Lexi were equally busy on the weekend with their boyfriends.

The three of us went to the winter festival dance at school together with our boyfriends. John drove us all in Aunt V's Escalade. Aunt V really liked John. She would leave us at the house alone while going out with Taylor. John never tried anything inappropriate. Gosh knows I wanted him too, but John was always the gentleman.
