The RA

Here's The RA. I know I've been hyping it for like half a year now, but here it finally is. You might be wondering, "Ice Bear -- can I call you Ice Bear?" Yes you may. "Ice Bear, why are there downloadable files of this story you've told us time and again you'd be selling on Amazon?"

Because fuck Amazon right in the ear, that's why. I'm selling this over there for $5, yes, but for you folks? It's all yours. Financially dumb, you bet. I don't care. I'm in a place where giving people something I hope they enjoy, and inviting a work to gain the widespread enjoyment and notoriety of THAL and TIOS and HitH and Creeps are worth more to me than a few extra bucks. If I get to thumb my nose at Amazon while I do it, all the better. You folks and your support and kind words and less kind but still interestingly critical words are why I do this. Aside from needing to eat and buy gas and stuff.

Even more awesome, those chumps over at Amazon don't get access to what I'm adding to make things more fun. Namely, art. Idly shopping for models to cast as my characters in HitH was a lot of fun, so I kept that going here. There are 30+ residents on Higgins 3, the setting of The RA, as well as 5 lady RAs and one sexy lady boss. Almost all of them have their own image, so if you're the sort who likes more than words on a page to flesh out the imagery, here you go. You may want to bookmark it so you don't have to keep coming to this post. There's a huge range of quality in here, but still, it's good for getting the gist.

There's also a floor plan, because for the first time as a writer I had to actually take notes to get the spatial relationships right. Enjoy that slice of extra geekitude while you're at it.

(On the note of artwork, I realize the cover kinda sucks, but I didn't want to spend a lot of time and/or money on it and my efforts to find a decent shot of a college girl from behind in a shower eventually culminated in this. Move past it. Go to where the story starts and don't look back.)

About The RA

What is this book? That's a fair question. Feel free to download and just read, but if you want to read the back of the nonexistent bookjacket, this is a story inspired by my own decade or so working in college residence life as an RA and then moving up the chain. It follows Spencer, an almost too well-intentioned guy who changed majors late in the game and so is on his 5th year as an RA. This year, he's got himself a coed floor in a new hall, with a new boss and new coworkers. Only, as his residents arrive, they're not so coed. And they're sexy as fuck.

So we have a guy in charge of a living environment filled with my biggest, most diverse cast ever of hot college chicks. Progressive of me, I know. Spencer's a nice guy, though, so despite the river of hormones flowing through the Higgins 3, he sets out to build an inclusive, caring community for his girls. Meanwhile, because this is that kind of story, shenanigans ensue.

This is a slow burn, so don't expect to blow your load every chapter. It's more about creating a setting so thick with steam it's almost hard to breathe, where every interaction has veiled or not-so-veiled sexual connotations. With hot college chicks. Not sure I mentioned that.

Sue 'em in small claims court for the max for IP infringement. 2 scenarios: They don't show up (it'd cost them 50K which is more than your award) so the magistrate (or judge) will grant you a judgment because of their no-show. If they stonewall you, hit them with interrogatories and cry all the way to the bank. Second scenario: they do show up and you tell the attorney everytime they do you wrong you'll sue them in small claims court for the max and force them to hire outside counsel which costs them $$$. You'll get put on a 'don't fuck with this guy' list and get your way.

Equal parts the usual they're a sucky corporation thing, and personal grievance. Tried to publish RLP a while back, and got stonewalled by them because apparently some asswipe pirate already uploaded it to them, and Amazon would rather blow me off and do business with the very productive thief than let me get money for my own work. Nyeh. Only reason I even bothered with a cover and publishing it to their site is to put the jerkwad thief in my predicament.

Ice Bear

Not that I don't appreciate the free story, but what's with the Amazon hate?

Serendipity

Soon, I hope! Gonna finish up all those projects I keep promising, but then back at it.

Ice Bear

Loved the series, any time frame for the beginning of volume 2?
