Or am I misremembering or thinking of another version or story? I feel like there was more where he offered her some jam on toast and told her to eat slowly. Was that a different story or a different version of the same story? I also felt this ebook version of the story had their friendliness move a bit fast or was missing or lacking some steps of Lin getting used to and comfortable with Jack. I seem to remember there being more.
