That wasn’t Cein’s lighter at the end. Y’all must have missed it but when Changjun (Hwan’s dad) was putting Hwan’s phone in his draw, that lighter was in Changjun’s desk drawer.
Also, y’all seemed confused about who the guy at the hospital is. Not sure how it was missed but it’s the boy that was being held captive at the glass arboretum that Haru saw when he was a kid. When the guy gave Haru his name he said “I’m not just ‘Choi’”. All the headlines just referred to him by his family name and not his name. So the guy asked Haru if he remembered what happened back then and if he could described the guy’s face to the police because he probably was so traumatized, he couldn’t remember. Haru said he could remember and that he would tell the police so the guy called his parents in and the police but Haru’s parents convinced him right at the last minute to lie and say he didn’t remember. Which was the scene where the guy was being dragged away saying “you said you remembered” so not only does the guy not get justice, but he presumedly has to stay in the psyche hospital longer. Then Haru’s parents took him out of that hospital so he wasn’t around the guy anymore.

I personally don’t think the flow of this show is off at all. I think it was paced correctly and in a way that keeps you guessing. I guess some people just need things more fast paced but I loved how it was edited together!

This show is confusing enough because of it just being based on the BU, but if you don’t keep the BU in mind, it makes even less sense. I’ve only seen it one time through before, but I don’t know if I’d say it really picks up from here. If I remember right, it keeps going pretty much like this episode where you are getting little bits of additional information all along the way. Up until the end, you have to go along knowing that there is still things we don’t know. Even then (no spoilers) this series doesn’t lead the viewer through everything. You had to have some prior knowledge about what’s going on.
There’s just no way around that it’s confusing to watch. I’m glad that both of you explained the flow bothered you. I started paying more attention to that and I’m sad to say I wish they would re-edit the series. Keeping us in the dark about what is a flashback or what is present, just didn’t work. It’s a shame too because cast, production, camera work is all good. When I think about how much work everyone put into this and the level of acting from these young actors, and that it most likely will never see a wide audience due to the failure of the storytelling method, it makes me sad.
I got attached to these seven characters and I never could separate “Haru” from “Jimin’s character”. Even when I would concentrate, “the Hosu character” would smile and wave and I’d melt and say, “Oh jhope!” They intentionally had actors play our members playing these roles. It’s all very Meta which I guess fits with watching the BU play out as well. The BU is dark, depressing, and confusing and I guess they captured that part.
tl:dr I don’t love it either, but I really respect the cast and crew. But fire the editors or whoever is trying to tell the story. Mad respect to you two for sticking with it.

I agree. I would suggest you guys watch the "BTS STORYLINE SUMMARY + EXPLAINED | 2020 UPDATE" by @xCeleste !. I am enjoying the show a lot more because I watched it. It’s just a suggestion though you don’t have to.
I love myself

You guys are confused because you didn't recap the BU from 5 yrs ago. The others saying not to and not to compare the members? That's nearly impossible! This whole entire Drama is based off of the Bangtan Universe storyline! You are confused because you forgot the most important plot of the entire BU!!!!
