Update

Hey guys,

As you may all know, We're gonna start Attack on Titan after Lucifer ends. I know there's two ways to watch but I can't decide for myself. I really want to watch it in sub but since I'm a slow reader, I'm worried that it's gonna be a challenge. What do you all think.

PS: Mockingjay part 2 has been postponed to next weekend.

Ah dunno about that, Levi and Erwin's voice actors were top tier

dub is awful except for 1 character lol

Please please consider watching in SUB! The voice acting adds so much to the storytelling and the Japanese VAs went above and beyond for this show. There are so many crucial moments carried by the voice acting alone!! You are going to love it. Especially the protagonist's voice actor, Yuki Kaji, won plenty of awards for his great performance in AoT. Another huge advantage of watching in SUB is that you are going to attract more audience on YouTube as well as Patreon. I do understand that it can be difficult, but please give it a try! So excited for you to start the show!!!

Facts 100% agreed, and I've seen the show. Much easier to take everything going on, the art the dialog, the reactors reaction, not only vocal, but facial and body language, that's 4 things you need to watch simultaneously and one of them is fast paced reading. SMH I dislike how in their feelings everyone gets about the 3% more emotion you get from the Japanese voice actors. Which honestly I argue is less emotion, you just can't understand the words so the ONLY thing you can pick up on is emotion. The ONLY thing that translates is emotion. So you feel like there's more by comparison to something you can listen to, and hear emotion, and tone of voice, and inflection. Sometimes I think these people equate volume to emotion. "they're yelling therefore it's done with more heart" no they're just louder and whinier than the dub. lol I admit in a single watchers perspective, if they can keep up, the sub is a better experience, but as a reactor, and as a reaction consumer, I say the dub is simply better for a multitude of reasons.

i would rather you watch DUB because I'm here to watch your reaction.. not read subtitles. i personally haven't seen AoT and i feel this will make it much harder

If you do sub make sure you do the right subtitles! I don't know which one is which but there's a couple options, one is a super crude Americanisation with tons of slang and poor translations, and the correct one. You should be able to tell pretty quick if you got the right one. Someone else can help explain better but I believe it's a matter of the difference between the options of "Eng. Sub" and "English:CC" or something silly like that. And not all streaming services have both. I think Hulu has one of the goofy ones, Not sure about Crunchyroll. I just got the DVD set since I was tired of paying both patreon subscriptions and cruncyroll subscriptions to watch peoples reactions to one single anime over and over. lol

Keep in mind that each has advantages and disadvantages. The sub version tries to portray the original emotional tone of the Japanese creators and actors (which the dub version will change), but having to read the subs can make you miss what is happening on the screen. The dub lets you follow the action on the screen more easily and distracts less, but the emotional tone of the scenes may be different from the original Japanese. I have a friend who learned Japanese to get the best of both worIds. I personally prefer subs, but I can't dislike a well-done dub.

The dub is great. The voice actors are fantastic. Is it as good as the sub? debatable. People who aren't cry baby die hard weebs with bias shoved so far up their ass they can't see straight will admit this is one of the best Dubs in anime. I've seen this show multiple times in both sub AND in dub. There's only a couple/few times the Americanisation of the translation is silly or out of place. There's only a couple times that the emotion is dramatically more in the original than it is in the dub. However, I personally like the sound design of a lot of things more in the dub. I also read slow and even though I'm good at reading dyslexia slows me down, so if you're not super fast at reading you would definitely benefit from the dub. You miss subtle facial emotions, hints, looks, side eyes, not to mention the amazing art of the fight scenes, the emotion in the eyes. All the art suffers when you constantly have to look away. Emotion in voice acting means VERY LITTLE when you can't understand them, it's all just whiney screams IMHO. It only seems more emotional because you can't understand the words so you're only picking up the emotion, it's the only thing that translates to someone who doesn't speak a word of the language they're using. For reaction content in general, I suggest the dub. But especially if you are a slow reader. Now here's the caveat the weebs who love this show won't watch it if you do dubbed. So your reaction interaction will suffer. What you can do to mitigate this is what I've seen some people do and you could do that too, is edit and post both versions. Line your reaction up to the audio of both sub and dub and release two videos. (it's more work, but if you are watching the dub, you'll have less cuts and pauses, and lining up both audios will be simple, you'll also get the benifit of understanding the show, while not alienating all the die hard fans that won't watch the dub). And if you do watch along rather than picture in picture (the legal way, and the way I assume you do it) you can just watch the dub, and suggest to people to watch along in their preferred audio. You can do the same if you want to watch sub, but have fans that want the dub. This all being said, if 2 versions is too much work, but you want to watch the dub, just edit in the sub audio when you record and put together the edited version. Just a thought. It will keep interactions up, while you get to watch the way you want. Best of both worlds. You're going to get a MASSIVE amount of bullying, harassment, and straight up TEMPER TANTRUMS to watch the sub. But if it ruins your time watching it, fuck those cry babies. Watch it how YOU want to watch it, and you'll make the best reaction for your fans. The people who want to watch YOU see this, rather than just want to watch the show again themselves will sub and watch in their preferred language. They'll want to support you and want to see the show so they'll settle. I've done this both ways and it does NOT ruin the reaction in any way, barely effects it. However, watching it in a way YOU don't want too. Or worse, missing major plot points ruins the reaction entirely for everyone except the weebs that don't care about your reaction and simply want to watch AOT their favorite way for the millionth time. I've seen people who said they didn't want to watch it in sub, be forced into it by their viewers that care more about watching it how they want for free on the youtube edits than they do the reactors time, or supporting the channel in general. So their voices shouldn't even matter. Countless reactors have switched and been bullied into watching the version they don't want and held hostage in a show they can't enjoy and miss all the major points too. Here's the thing, if you miss a look, or miss a statement, or miss a word, you're not going to know. You're not going to magically go "wait I missed something a scene or two ago let me rewind it". you might catch it in the edit if you're doing the editing yourself, but you won't know you missed something and it will ruin future scenes and reveals. There's just too much to miss in this show, subtle things. Quick statements that don't have a huge reaction so if you look away for a split second, or are enjoying the art you might totally miss a major plot point or reveal. Also, if you're not doing picture in picture, and giving us the audio and visual attached in the same video stopping, rewinding, and starting again will be a NIGHTMARE to line up with and stay synched. Doing a watch along format to that would be IMPOSSIBLE. furthermore, you need to pause or go back and re-read these quick passing title cards that give you info about the world. Adding another layer of difficulty to a continuous watch through. So if you are going to be doing a lot of pausing and replaying you'll have to do it in picture in picture which means you'll be copywriting and illegally streaming the whole show. If you find yourself struggling, or missing things, please do what YOU want and not what the watchers want. If they truly like you and want to support they can watch along in their preferred language and everyone's happy. Just some things to think about that these "dub sucks" Karen's are NOT going to admit or let you know because they want their way or the highway, and for this spoiled group of bullies (I've seen it in COUNTLESS comment sections for reactors *they're the worst fan group of all time with bullying and spoiling, and fighting each other, and arguing, and spitefully spoiling things if you piss them off.) Don't cater to these nonjobs cater to your long time viewers and your own wellbeing. Watch how you want and screw the rest. Also please have someone scan your comment sections and remove spoilers because this show isn't a matter of if, it's a matter of when the wrong people find it and start spoiling like crazy in every comment section, whether they mean to or not. I'll watch along in either, but if you're doing watch along, I'll be enjoying my copy in dub. Since with my dyslexia and ADHD it's much easier to stay retained and get everything, but also because the dub voice actors killed it and I enjoy the performance of both languages equally, but like I said, I enjoy the ability to understand the auido, not have to read the whole time, and enjoy many parts of the choices in sound design more than in the sub strangely enough. Can't explain what without spoiling. have fun and enjoy one of the best stories ever told, and please watch it in a way that you can FULLY enjoy and take in everything, I'd hate for fast text or a quick statement to send you into confusion and not enjoy all the teasers and flashes they throw at you. If you find the sub completely palletable and reading isn't a struggle by all means do the sub. But for many other reasons that outweigh the little better emotion you get and a little better lip synching you get from the sub, I recommend the dub with a couple *'s being that you might want to release both options if possible, since it will raise your numbers to have a sub posted (even if you do dub) and if you do dub, you won't have to pause and rewind often, meaning the video you need to synch up to both audios is continuous and not split into 30 sections from pausing and replaying. I say watch the first couple episodes in Sub for the reaction, but re-watch it in dub and see which one is better, and which one you prefer. And if you choose sub, don't lock in that choice until you know it's what you want and you think you can manage. Thanks for coming to my ted talk. Please do what's best for you and let the reactions spawn from that, don't do what you don't want just for a higher view count.

I'm going to be super unbiased and piss off a lot of these super biased weebs. I subscribed simply to comment this so please take the time to read it. It's long so I'll spare everyone and comment it in the reply so you can hide it if you so choose. But PLEASE read it all with an open mind.
