2025-11-05 09:27:34 +0000 UTCI'm genuinely surprised by the comments saying Joey was in the wrong and overreacting here. For one thing he was not cheating on Kathy, they weren't exclusive. But they were still seeing each other and it's a betrayal to your friendship with someone to kiss a person they're dating behind their back. It's not about the person they're seeing, it's about making a choice that devalues the importance of your friend and the bond you share. Which is why Joey forgives Chandler once it's clear how much he does matter to him. Seeing that Chandler and Kathy had a genuine bond and that he was willing to give that up was enough to restore the broken trust in the importance of their friendship to Chandler. The reason he couldn't simply "get over it" from the start is because their relationship wouldn't have been the same while he believed he wasn't as important to Chandler as Chandler was to him. Neither of them would have been happy with that. Insisting Chandler genuinely rid him of those doubts instead of sweeping it under the rug was the only way to truly heal their friendship.
