Kang Cheol is technically "dead" in the comic but he is also a "real human" in the real world now. He did say that the comic is just the bridge between his world and Yeon Joo's world. Each one is real and they're separate. Like parallel universe. I guess that's why he's no longer disappearing. Also, I think a little romance in the middle of their figuring out how to resolve all of this makes it less tense. I'm not against it lol
