The actor who played Officer Powell was also a cop in Family Matters, Ghostbusters, and Turner & Hooch, which all came out within a 5-year time span. Hollywood really loved casting him as a cop for some reason.

And I totally enjoyed watching it again with you Sophie! Your reactions and insights always add another layer to whatever you watch, and you clearly had fun with this one. Thanks!
