Starlight and Hughie are the heart of the show, whereas Homelander is a creep, control freak, and straight-up psychopath. He reminds me of Kilgrave from Jessica Jones or Joffrey from Game of Thrones. All three of them are pretty realistic portrayals of what can happen to people's minds if they have absolute power. (Feel free to draw parallels to some of today's world leaders ...) Billy Joel is a singer and songwriter and he's Hughie's favorite musician. He was extremely successful in the 70's and 80's, so people from our generation usually don't know him, but people aged 55 or older definitely all do. He's had a lot of number one songs and albums. I think his most famous song is "We Didn't Start the Fire", I'm sure you'll recognize it if you listen to it.
