Sophie, don't be so hard on yourself about all the plots. Keep in mind it was a 10 year long show. As the audience grew closer with the caracteres, they started to go deeper into the back stories and along came some plot holes. It happens from time to time in seasons to come, though in my point of view it wasn't a huge problem because the new stories were also very good.

And I think that's why I kinda love it. Because all the way through it just feels like two friends. The laughter and silliness and how it didn't change anything between them.

2025-07-22 00:27:39 +0000 UTCIt's an inconsistency, but I can also just believe that Rachel would have forgotten that entire thing and Chandler pretended to not know her later to spare himself the embarrassment. I like to headcanon that Joey learns by having Phoebe and Monica (and later Rachel) as friends to not be quite as shitty as he was in the stripping scene. He's still definitely the biggest player on the show, but I don't think he ever does something that crazy again. I'm with you on Monica and Chandler.

2025-07-21 02:30:55 +0000 UTCYeah, Friends has a lot of plot holes. This show was made back in a time when people didn't care about that so much, especially with sitcoms. Most of the time, back then, people only watched older episodes on re-runs, which didn't happen a lot during a run of a show, so people forgot those little details over years of weekly episodes. They do a fair amount of retconning, so be prepared for that. It's still fun and funny, you just have to take some things with a grain of salt.

The scene between Monica and Chandler is so sweet. I love their friendship so much. On the other hand, I never would have guessed for Ross and Phoebe to almost hook up! As far as when Rachel met Chandler, when first watching this episode, I just kind of assumed that Rachel didn’t really remember him in the pilot since she only briefly met him here. I don’t think she even knew his name. That’s how I justified it in my head anyway, lol.
