Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 /Movie Series Reaction
Added 2025-05-23 22:03:22 +0000 UTCI forgot to share with you the results of my Hogwarts house quiz at the end. So Apparently , I'm all the things :
'' So, you're 29% Ravenclaw, 26% Gryffindor, 23% Hufflepuff, and 22% Slytherin! You seem to be an almost perfect combination of all four houses, which is incredibly rare – you’re equal in your intelligence, bravery, loyalty, and ambition. As we know, though, the Sorting Hat takes your preference into account...so it looks like you get to choose your own house. Congratulations! ''
Well this is incredible. Which house should I choose ?
Also, Someone please tell me what they think about Dumbledore. Did he know that Harry will survive and just lied to Snape or did he not plan that far ahead.
And as for Snape, Was his Patronus always been a Doe or did his Patronus change when Lilly died and did he agree with Harry being sacrificed knowing he's the last piece he got left of Lily ?
Comments
To set the record straight: Lily did not fall in love with Snape’s bully. In reality, what the films don’t show is that Snape was far from innocent. Lily stopped talking to him because he was drifting closer to Voldemort’s camp and was himself bullying Muggle-borns (aside from Lily). Until one day, in their fifth year, Snape insulted Lily by calling her a “Mudblood.” From that moment on, she decided to cut ties with him, while James, on the other hand, had started to mature. As for Harry: the reason he came back is that, in the fourth film, Voldemort took Harry’s blood to regain a body. In the same way that Harry kept Voldemort alive as a Horcrux, Voldemort kept Harry alive thanks to Lily’s protection flowing through his veins. As a result, as long as Voldemort lived, Harry could not die. And an incredible fact about Harry (my favorite character): in the books, when he sacrificed himself in order to defeat Voldemort and save everyone he loved, he actually recreated the same enchantment that Lily Potter had cast on him when he was a baby! The book explains that Voldemort and his Death Eaters could no longer touch anyone present during the battle, as long as they were fighting for the side of good. I find it amusing that a wizard as “powerful” as Voldemort was incapable of learning from his own mistakes!

2025-09-23 15:25:55 +0000 UTCI like how Draco went to his mother and ignored his father that says a lot imo. I just wish we got to see more interactions between Draco and mom but I know the movies are long as is

2025-07-19 08:20:09 +0000 UTCIt's interesting how you pointed out that motherly love is a recurrent theme in this series. I had never thought about it that way, but J. K. Rowling's mum did die of multiple sclerosis when she had just started to write Harry Potter and Rowling herself had to get out of an abusive marriage and struggled being a single parent soon after that so... I can see how she would have influenced her writing. I've loved rewatching this series with you. Thank you, Sofie!

2025-07-07 04:05:33 +0000 UTCNot only did they add the Gemino curse to multiply anything touched (the additional stuff disappears after a bit), they also added in the book, that the treasure would also burn you. You should take the pottermore test, wizardingworld.com I think is the addy. I swear you are a Ravenclaw - you pick up on so much and so quickly! the pottermore official one you can also take a quiz to determine your Patronus and wand as well! I don't know if anyone mentioned it but I love giving Neville his flowers - though I will say, the reason why Neville had so many problems in the beginning with doing spells, is because he was using his grandfather's wand - the wand chooses the wizard - and that wand didn't choose Neville. He started making better progress when he got a wand of his own, I think around the time of either Order of the Phoenix or Half Blood Prince. It was Fenrir Greyback, the werewolf who turned Lupin and clawed Bill, that was gnawing on Lavender, Ron's ex girlfriend. I highly recommend reading the books. They are so good. Deathly Hallows never fails to get me sobbing every time I read the book. If I can get super pulled in, it never fails, during the scene in the great hall, the memories, and the resurrection stone with all his loved ones and the tears come flowin no matter how many times I read it. I have a t-shirt with the word 'Always', and the A is the Deathly hallows symbol. "Dumbledore, could you be less cryptic for just a moment, please?" --Dumbledore "Not in my nature" lol "Words are, in my not so humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it." is one of my favorite Dumbledore quotes in this series! Also "Of course it's happening inside your head, Harry. But why should that mean, that it's not real?" There's a musical group out there called 'Ministry of Magic', not sure if they still do stuff, but they do Harry Potter based songs, and one of their songs I think you would love. Watch it on your own time, or make a reaction out of it, but seeing a fellow Snape lover I guarantee you will love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JybrDuxRN78 it's called 'The Bravest Man I Ever Knew'

2025-07-05 05:26:19 +0000 UTCThe Resurrection stone was actually the stone atop his grandfather's ring that we see in the memory where he's fiddling with it and talking to Slughorn. When Dumbledore discovered the ring he realized it was the resurrection stone and foolishly put it on which incurred the curse to his hand. I think he thought he would try bringing back Arianna, to talk to her.

2025-06-11 05:34:26 +0000 UTC"Also, Someone please tell me what they think about Dumbledore. Did he know that Harry will survive and just lied to Snape or did he not plan that far ahead." In the flashback memory of Snape's, you see Snape saying "You're offering him up like a pig for slaughter". This actually was a real conversation between Snape and Dumbledore in the books, and Harry was actually there and caught a small part of the conversation but had no idea what they were talking about. The flashback showed Harry was looking up and listening into their conversation because he was sent to meet with Dumbledore. This was around the time when Snape said "Do you realize you're asking too much of me?". This was the same conversation Snape had with Dumbledore about Draco trying to kill Dumbledore, and Dumbledore asking Snape to be the one to kill Dumbledore. So when Dumbledore 'begged' Snape and said "Severus...please", he was actually begging Snape to fulfill a promise and Dumbledore's request for Severus to be the one to kill him because it was necessary to defeat Voldemort. 13:57 Dumbledore never said he destroyed the Resurrection Stone (and he never mentioned or referenced he has ever obtained it although we do see the stone hidden in the Snitch so we can safely assume Dumbledore did come across the stone. It is possible he tracked down all Deathly Hallows in his youth with exception to the Invisibility Cloak because it was passed down from Father to child and eventually to the Potter family. Resurrection by definition means someone brought back to life, from death (Like Jesus Christ was resurrected in the Bible). The Elixir of Life (The Sorceror's Stone/ Philosopher's Stone), is a stone that 'extends' and increases your lifespan while you are still alive (or barely). If you put the stone with a dead person, it does nothing. 1:25:10 In regards to wandlore, the Elderwand requires the user to be good enough for the wand, esp in fights/duels. If a wizard loses a duel, the wand (even the Elderwand especially), may consider changing allegiance. In a duel, a wand can switch allegiance without the losing wizard losing their life. The changing of allegiance can happen if someone wins a duel in general. Harry actually never grabbed and stole the wand from Draco in the books, he disarmed Draco in a magic duel fight, and that is how Harry actually "won" the wand. Because Draco disarmed Dumbledore, the Elder Wand's allegiance was actually to Draco. Meanwhile, Draco's wand's allegiance changed to Harry.

2025-06-04 10:28:39 +0000 UTCThere was literally ONE requirement when casting young Lily: she needed to have eyes that looked like Daniel Radcliffe's 🤦🏻♀️. It annoys me to no end that they messed that up so badly.

2025-06-01 03:24:19 +0000 UTCThe curse didn't kill Harry the 2nd time bc of the horror inside of Harry that voldemort didn't know about. That died in place of Harry. If he was to get hit a 3rd time he would die.

2025-05-31 22:44:18 +0000 UTCOne little detail from the books which helps make a little more sense of Goblin-wizard relations, including Gripehook's attitude about the sword - is that Goblins have a different understanding of property ownership than wizards. In particular, Goblins believe that someone who purchases a Goblin-made artifact (such as the Sword of Griffindor) is effectively only renting it - the true owner remaining the maker, and full use of it should return to the maker on the death of the Wizard who "rented/purchased" it. ... This goes a long way to explaining many of the Wizard-Goblin wars which the Hogwarts ghost professor, Prof Bins, teaches about (unfortunately missing from the movies). Just one more reason to read the books!
Stephen Paynter
2025-05-31 10:36:32 +0000 UTCOne possibility of remaining in this world together is - assuming you read the books - if you share a few thoughts on video after each chapter - reflecting on how much richer the books are than it was possible to put into the movies - , and then bundle them together into a reaction video for each book .... I know, I for one would be up for watching that from such a perceptive reactor.

2025-05-29 03:47:18 +0000 UTCExactly. Dumbledore: "Remember what he did. In his ignorance. In his greed. And his cruelty. - He took your blood and rebuilt his living body with it! Your blood in his veins. Lily’s protection inside both of you! He tethered you to life while he lives!" Harry: "I live while he lives? But I thought it was the other way round! I thought we both had to die? Or is it the same thing?"

2025-05-28 06:08:10 +0000 UTCNot to sound presumptuous or anything but when i first saw the first movie i was about 12y old and i knew from the very start of the movie that Snape was faking hate towards harry potter and was the one helping him the whole movie theres very small and suttle hints here and there im very perceivable of such tiny psychological details. When i watch movie or series i always try to figure out the hidden plots its a game i like to do. Obviously i was amazed about the depth of Snapes storyline its brilliant writting and acting. If u wana see a movie I was really surprised and amazed by the writting and ending is The nature of love a movie from Quebec director and actors whos amazing and word award at Canne Festival.

2025-05-28 06:07:33 +0000 UTCI don't remember my house percentages, but I scored high for Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Ravenclaw slightly edged it out, and I think if I were to go through the sorting ceremony that would have been the house I would've wanted over the other three. So I binged your Harry Potter reactions over the past couple days, and the one thing that I came away from it with is how perceptive you are. You really paid attention to every detail and were able to intuit so many things that aren't expressly explained in the movies but are in the books. For example, I think you're the first reactor I've seen who realized that when Xenophilius Lovegood said Voldemort's name, it called the Death Eaters to him, then you connected it back to the fact that Harry had been calling him "You Know Who" throughout the movie when he usually calls him Voldemort (In the book it's discovered that a spell called the taboo curse was put on the word Voldemort, so that any time a person says it the curse is triggered and their location is revealed). So for that reason, I'd lean toward Ravenclaw. Watching these movies as I've gotten older and become a mother myself (my son is almost the same age as Harry in this final movie, which is wild to think about) the theme of a mother's love being the strongest magic resonates so much with me. I'd love to see you react to the Hunger Games movies if you haven't seen them already.

2025-05-27 09:58:34 +0000 UTCWhat is horrible is that Tonks (Nymphadora) was killed by Bellatrix who is in fact her aunt. Indeed there were 3 Black sisters. Bellatrix Narcissa and Andromeda (the middle one). Her head was erased from the family tree. She was disinherited from her family like Sirius her cousin to whom she was close (and other people before them) because she did not share their idea and married a Muggle-born (Edward/Ted Tonks) even if she was slytherin. She was a strong woman allied with the Order of Phoenix who helped them hide them, survived the torture of the Death Eaters who were looking for information on Harry. Unfortunately her husband who was on the run because of his statue was also killed during her daughter's pregnancy. So the poor woman lost her husband and her daughter in a few months. After the war, she raised her grandson Teddy Lupin (in honor of his grandfather) with the help of Harry, who was his godfather. I was sad and disappointed that she was so erased from the films.

2025-05-27 09:43:26 +0000 UTCThe analysis is quite right. Sophie has an ambitious side (Slytherin), innocent (Hufflepuff), smart (Ravenclaw), but above all I believe Sophie is fiercely loyal, upright, and true and therefore: Griffindore! I'm inly a mild Potterhead, so forgive me if I'm incorrect on definitions.

2025-05-27 09:36:24 +0000 UTCIf you rewatch dumbledore death scene he said please to snape, not asking to not kill him but begging him he does because he said that was too much to ask actually
Laure
2025-05-27 09:12:27 +0000 UTCSnape had a very rough childhood which led to his being a bit of a weirdo as a kid in Hogwarts as well as drawing him to darker ideas and people. Lily was his one connection to good and normal but as he grew up he found it harder and harder to reconcile his association with his racist friends and dark beliefs with his bond with Lily. Eventually his other side simply became too much for Lily, and she didn't want to have much to do with him anymore. Years later as a death eater, it was he who overheard the prophesy and he who told Voldemort about it (not knowing who it was about), unwittingly setting Voldemort on Lily and her family. This left him feeling incredibly guilty.
Eli
2025-05-27 07:43:30 +0000 UTCDumbledore wanted Snape to kill him in order to break the power of the Elder wand. The wand provided power to whoever "won" it from its previous master (similar to how the original brother "won" it from Death in the first place). Dumbledore's idea was to die willingly, thus forever breaking the power of the wand. The plan didn't quite work because Draco disarmed Dumbledore before Snape could kill him.
Eli
2025-05-27 07:28:29 +0000 UTCThe reason Harry didn't die in forest is primarily (there may be other reasons) because when Voldemort used Harry's blood to come back at the end of the 4th movie the result was that the protection Lily provided Harry from Voldemort now ran in Voldemort's veins as well and insured that the protection would remain so long as Voldemort himself was alive. Ironically Voldemort used that blood specifically because sharing the blood allowed him to touch Harry and in theory, kill him, now that "he had what Harry had". The plan backfired obviously and instead the result of sharing the blood was that Harry's life was tethered to Voldemort's. It really is poetic - Voldemort remained alive as long as Harry (and the other Horcruxes) remained alive but he accomplished that through murder and the diminishment of his soul. Harry, too, remained alive so long as Voldemort remained alive, but he "accomplished" this via love and the perpetuity of his mother's soul in a way. And yes, Dumbledore strongly suspected this would be the case from the moment Harry told him Voldemort used his blood. In the books there was an unexplained "gleam" in Dumbledore's eye when Harry told him originally. This is why he told Snape that Voldemort must be the one to kill him.

2025-05-24 20:24:35 +0000 UTCI don't see it necessarily as a redemption arc. Snape is by far my favorite character, but not because he's suddenly a good guy, because that's not the point. His story shows that he can be someone's villain and at the same time he can be someone else's hero. He doesn't have to be just one or the other. He's way more complex than that. I mean...isn't that the main reason why so many people love Snape - because of how complicated he is - and not because he suddenly turns into a good guy. For me that would be a very boring.
Ninaofthe90s
2025-05-24 19:51:36 +0000 UTCI don't like how the revelation about snape is supposed to make us feel bad about him and change our mind completely. No, he was a terrible person. He loved Lily ok, but he allowed kids to be tortured and bullied children years and years that had nothing to do with harry whatsoever. I don't buy this redemtpion arc

2025-05-24 15:34:59 +0000 UTC“I see his actions and then I see his face and it tells me a completely different story” One very interesting fact, Sofie, is that J.K. Rowling told Alan Rickman some key details about Snape’s past, like his love for Lily and his true role in Harry’s life. That allowed him to convey all those complex emotions from the very beginning, adding so much depth to the character early on. Alan Rickman kept those secrets and used them to deliver such a brilliant performance. Now I’m going back to watching. I had to pause your video just to share this! Haha
Laura
2025-05-24 12:36:15 +0000 UTCI will never get tired of watching or reading Harry Potter. Even if, as I keep saying, the fact that there are scenes/characters/anecdotes that were not integrated into the films or that were made almost invisible will always frustrate me. Like Voldemort's origins and childhood when he was still only Tom Riddle, the circumstances of his conception, his mother etc... Snape's childhood marked by his father's abuse towards his mother and him and the end of his friendship with Lily after James publicly humiliated Snape because Sirius and he were bored and Snape's attempt to make amends. The fact that Snape owes a life debt to James following a huge mistake by Sirius. The revelations that show that Dumbledore was not always a good and just man and that he made several mistakes and had bad company. His ambition and his plans for greatness distanced him from his brother and sister who were the only family he had left and the death of his sister and the guilt of not knowing if he himself is responsible or not. There are also the couples Fleur / Bill and Tonks / Remus. Remus who rejected Tonks for a long time because of her status as a Werewolf and the age difference. Then, when he discovered her pregnancy, he was ready to abandon her to be on the run with Harry. He has always been quite cowardly. And then there is Fleur who was never accepted by Molly, Ginny, Hermione etc ... She was constantly ignored or mocked. One of the scenes I wish I had seen in the movies is the one in The Half-Blood Prince where Bill is in the hospital wing after being bitten by Greyback during the Death Eater invasion. Molly insinuates in front of everyone that Bill and Fleur's wedding will no longer take place now that her son is disfigured and Fleur finally breaks down and puts her in her place. I love this scene. And even though I like the confrontation between Harry and Voldemort in the movies, I still kind of prefer the one in the books where they fight in front of everyone and where Harry finally reveals the truth about Snape, Dumbledore, Voldemort himself etc...

2025-05-24 09:26:37 +0000 UTC1:11:50 Naaah, Harry cannot sense the Horcrux. The movie narrative is complete trash because they had cut so much from the books. Harry had seen the diadem back in "Halfblood Prince" when he himself hid his potions book after he used the sectum sempra curse on Malfoy. This movie is just one big deus ex machina after another. Script writers wrote themselves into a corner with all their shite.
Julia68yt
2025-05-24 07:54:36 +0000 UTCAlso, Harry neither destroys the Elder Wand nor throws it away in the books. He uses it to repair his original wand and then returns it to Dumbledore’s grave, allowing it to rest with its former master. It’s also important to note that the Elder Wand does not actually make one invincible. Its power lies in the exceptionally strong bond it forms with its master, allowing for extraordinary magical feats as a result, but it's also more fickle than ordinary wands, being highly attuned to strength. Unlike typical wands, which probably won't change allegiance so easily, the Elder Wand is quick to shift loyalty if it senses weakness in its master, such as when its master is disarmed. By returning the wand to Dumbledore and choosing to never use it again, Harry hoped to end the chain of ownership over the Elder Wand, believing that if he died undefeated, the wand's power would die with him.

2025-05-24 07:46:19 +0000 UTCSofie, PLEASE read/listen to the books. It will make everything so much clearer. Dumbledore says himself that, instead of outright telling Harry, he had to put him through all of this turmoil to have him ready to sacrifice himself. Because the worst thing that could have happened would have been Harry fighting back against Voldemort's killing curse. It would have protected the Horcrux inside Harry. He had to allow Voldemort to destroy it. And yes, he most certainly knew -well, gambled on - that Harry would survive, because with Voldemort being ressurected with Harry's blood in "Goblet of Fire" he had carried a piece of Harry in him. Not quite a Horcrux, but still.

2025-05-24 06:18:04 +0000 UTCAnother thing that I think it was necessary to show in the movie, was the only thing Harry does with the Elder wand: Before he return it to Dumbledore, he used it to repair his original wand. In the books, they say that a broken wand cannot be repaired with another wand, but obviously, only the Elder Wand can, because as you know, it's the most powerful, so Harry actually use it for a good purpose before he get rid of the elder wand. Also, the wand that Harry uses to defeat Voldemort is Draco's original wand

2025-05-24 05:00:55 +0000 UTCIt's not said in the movie but harry also named his daughter Lily Luna potter after his mom and Luna love good I've always loved that little fact. Also if you dive into the lore of HP you'll find that Neville also could've been in Harry's place they're both born in July and a few other factors. Only reason voldemort chose harry was because he was a half blood like him Neville is a pure blood. So he saw harry as more of an equal. However through out the movies Neville is constantly saving the day in the first movie with winning the house cup and killing the snake and a couple other things. Their lives are very similar so I always found that interesting. Love love love your reactions though it's been amazing I hope maybe you'll make time to watch the fantastic beasts series as well you'll get more info into Dumbledore and other HP lore!

2025-05-24 04:57:29 +0000 UTCOthers have said it, but just to separate out the reason for Harry’s survival, here is what Dumbledore says in the book: “[Voldemort] took your blood believing it would strengthen him. He took into his body a tiny part of the enchantment your mother laid upon you when she died for you. His body keeps her sacrifice alive, and while that enchantment survives, so do you and so does Voldemort’s one last hope for himself.” Definitely read the books! And your observation of mother’s love is spot-on, because Dumbledore goes on, “If he could only have understood the precise and terrible power of [your mother’s] sacrifice, he would not, perhaps, have dared to touch your blood.… But then, if he had been able to understand, he could not be Lord Voldemort, and might never have murdered at all.”

2025-05-24 04:49:12 +0000 UTC- I don't think they said it in the movie, but Harry's first son is named James Sirius. - Harry's daughter was named Lily Luna. The obvious reason of the second name its because of Luna Lovegood, but some say that it was in honor of Remus Lupin, who had the nickname "Moony", the spanish translation of "Moon" it's "Luna", and the latin translation of "Lupin" is also "Luna". - Also, Neville became a professor of herbology in Hogwarts. - The Potters were in fact, descendants of one of the 3 brothers, the original owner of the Invisibility cloak, so that's how the cloak got in James's hands, generation after generation. - Harry was named godfather of Teddy Lupin, son of Remus and Tonks; I think he was in the last chapter, going to Hogwarts. - Kingsley Sacklebolt became the new minister - Harry became an auror (The same profession of Moody) - In 2019, Hermione became Minister of Magic Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading that Ron started working at the store with George in the future, was it in The Cursed Child? Or just headcanon?

2025-05-24 04:48:18 +0000 UTCI love this movie, but I would really would like to see on screen some of the details that make this saga more interesting, like the story of Dumbledore, Percy's arc, the conflict that Lupin has during the 7th book, the details about the profecy and how Neville could have been the chosen one instead of Harry, or even a little more about who's Grayback and why he turned Lupin into a werewolf. I hope the new show tell us most of these details

2025-05-24 04:41:35 +0000 UTCFirstly great reaction as always. Also id like to say just quickly read the books lmao. But on Dumbledore, I think he is one of the greatest most caring and thoughtful men in harry Potter. Avoiding spoilers in the books but his history with his sister and family really show that we are all humans. None of us even Albus Dumbledore are immune to the faults of our desires. But he is a lesson in second chances and believing in the goodness in people. I think this is the very reason he allowed Tom Riddle even after seeing the clear evil even in the kid tom to come to hogwarts at all, everyone deserves to be given the chance to become a better person even Voldemort.

2025-05-24 03:05:53 +0000 UTCI really suggest reading the books since there is a lot more details in it. Also, I suggest watching the fantastic beasts trilogy it take place in the same universe but in 1921 while the Harry Potter movies and books took place from 1991 to 1997 I think you will like it too.

2025-05-24 02:12:27 +0000 UTCAlso, I saw you asking about if we see a glimpse of the character's futures, so here are some fun facts we learned later on (not mentioned in the epilogue): - George continued working in the joke shop, where Ron helped him. He eventually had a son with Angelina Johnson (the black girl we see on the Gryffindor Quidditch team) who he named Fred Weasley II. - Harry's and Ginny's kids are named (oldest to youngest) James Sirius Potter, Albus Severus Potter, and Lily Luna Potter. Harry started the job as an Auror in the Ministry, then became Head Auror after a few years and then the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Ginny went on to become a professional Quidditch player. - Ron's and Hermione's children are named Rose and Hugo. Ron also went on to become an Auror with Harry, but after a few years he resigned and worked together with George in the joke shop. Hermione went back to Hogwarts to retake her last year and her exams and then went on to work for the Ministry, first in the Department of the Regulation of Magical Creatures and then in Magical Law Enforcement. After that, she actually became the Minister for Magic!! She and Harry work very closely together because of their position. - Draco had a son, Scorpius Malfoy, with a witch named Astoria Greengrass. - Neville actually did not want to date Luna in the books, that's a movie thing lol. He married a witch named Hannah Abbott, he also worked as an auror for a few years with Harry and Ron but then he went on to work as Professor for Herbology at Hogwarts. - McGonagall became the Headmistress after Severus. - Harry's son Albus got sorted into Slytherin and he and Scorpius became best friends. And another fun fact about Harry and Voldemort and how the cloak came to be in the Potter family's possession: Harry and Voldemort are very, very distant cousins. Both are descendants of Ignotus and Cadmus Peverell, who were brothers and with Antioch Peverell the original holders of the Deathly Hallows. The Potters, through the female line, inherited the Invisibility Cloak from Ignotus Peverell.

2025-05-24 01:57:57 +0000 UTCDon't know if you plan on reading the books, but if so, skip the rest of my comment... But the books go more into the theme of mother's love with Voldemort's backstory. Voldemort's mother was a witch who fell in love with a muggle, Tom Riddle Sr. She drugged him with a love potion and then essentially raped him, conceiving Voldemort in the process. After the love potion wore off Tom left her, and she shortly died after giving birth. A lot of what made Voldemort the monster he is can be derived from his parent's lack of true love for each other.

2025-05-24 01:52:15 +0000 UTCSomething that I once read which stuck with me: The theme we hear playing in the opening and then when Voldemort dies being Lily singing because her murderer is finally dead and her and James's murder avenged and her son is safe. That really is a beautiful thought and gives the theme even more meaning. Thank you, Sofie, for these wonderful reactions. They are by far my favorite. Your insight and compassion and intelligence is honestly what makes you stand out. I know l'll be regularly rewatching.

2025-05-24 01:38:14 +0000 UTCI actually think this is a really good and fair way to put it all. Did Dumbly have his faults? Yes, but the literal fate of the magical world was at stake and I'd also like to believe if he could have traded places with Harry, he would have done it in a heartbeat (with the whole sacrifice thing). 💗

2025-05-24 00:59:56 +0000 UTCI think this issue with Dumbledore is more complex! But, I've been in the fandom since 2015 (online) and I can tell you Sofie that half of the fandom doesn't like Dumbledore. I, and I repeat - I am more centrist in this situation. I think it doesn't need to be so black and white, but I understand those who really don't like the character. I think that yes, Dumbledore could have been more honest and transparent with Harry. I understand that, for example, the situation and the concept of Horcruxes were formed over time for him and he only understood at the end of the fifth film to the sixth, but he already knew for a fact and I repeat for a fact that Harry was a Horcrux and would have to die in the end. Also because the prophecy already said so and that was the reason, apart from the issue of the blood connection, but partly it was the fact that Harry had part of Voldemort's soul in him and was a Horcrux. As for the slaughter part, I am centrist and gray regarding that. Of course, Harry, in order to survive, had to take on a lot of emotional responsibility, so he wouldn't freak out. But I understand the concern about how it would affect him because the thought of "I only have this limited time to live" is a lot to think about. So I understand both sides, but again I don't rule out the question of Dumbledore being honest. Also, I see that since it is a fact, Harry would have to die anyway. Luckily, Voldemort, because he despises things he doesn't understand, like: A MOTHER'S LOVE. He ended up thinking it was a good idea to bond with Harry by blood. Because Lily's protection was >for Harry< and not for Voldemort, yes he found a loophole, Lily's protection in Harry's blood wouldn't affect him anymore, but Voldemort could never kill Harry by his hands. Protecting Harry from any spell or attempt to kill him carried out by Voldemort (reminding people that it has to be Voldemort. If another character tried to kill Harry it could work and he wouldn't come back). But, again, the point that Dumbledore could have been more honest and transparent is still valid, even because Harry has free will and the right to choose. But, I understand Dumbledore's concern that this is the "only way". In terms of crisis, we tend to. to take extremist measures. I'm more of a centrist in this case, but again I don't think it's unfair to those who don't like Dumbledore. So that it's my opinon. Obs: guys if you don't agree with me and you hate Dumbledore for that. Again, I UNDERSTAND. Don't attack me, be respectuful please. Here it's a safe place for us to discuss things and express our opinions. We don't need to be disrepectful with each other. ☺️💖

2025-05-24 00:41:32 +0000 UTCIt’s been an absolute pleasure to watch your Harry Potter journey! You are by far the best reactor to the HP series because you truly grasped all the themes and motifs (Mother’s Love, Friendship, Self-Sacrifice, Choices not Ability, etc) and appreciated every moment this amazing story had to offer. Thank you for your attention to detail and just being you! Here are some answers to the questions you have ask: Opinion On Dumbledore: I love Dumbledore! Discovering his background was a MASSIVE part of the 7th book that they almost entirely did not include where we get to learn so much detail on his past (what happened to his family and sister, history with Grindelwald, struggle with the Greater Good concept, his obsession with the Deathly Hallows) and also learn how he planned most every detail of Voldemort’s demise. So yes he planned and theorized well ahead of time! Harry Surviving The Killing Curse Twice: Harry survived because Voldemort taking his blood in Goblet of Fire was a HUGE mistake as the protection from Lily lived on and Voldemort was carrying it. It allowed Harry to survive when the piece of Voldemort’s soul (horcrux) did not. In the 4th book, Dumbledore has a triumphant look when Harry told him about the blood ritual because he then knew that Harry now has a chance to survive. It was still a gamble but Dumbledore is incredibly smart and most if not all of his theories end up being true. The elder wand belonging to Harry in the end also played a role, but Dumbledore actually planned on there being no one who can become the master of it since Snape’s intention was to kill Dumbledore for the greater good not for personal gain (intention matter when it comes to wands and their allegiances). The elder wand’s power and bloody history would have come to an end if Dumbledore’s plan went well but it didn’t because of Draco disarming him unexpectedly. Voldemort Feeling the Horcruxes: In the books its revealed that no one can feel it if destroyed and that is why when making horcruxes you should put them in safe, secure place that you can re-visit from time to time to check (ie. you need to be able to bypass your own the booby-traps that you laid out though). Also Harry cannot sense them either. This is something the movie changed. Snape’s Patronus: No, it wasn’t always a doe. It became a doe when he fell in love with her. Tonks’s patronus also changed in the books when she was in love with Lupin. I believe it has to be a very deep or desperate love for it to change. For example, Snape’s love was unrequited and so was Tonk’s at first. Voldemort and the Sword: Him walking past the sword when he killed Griphook, he didn’t know it was covered in basilisk venom, because the sword on its own cannot kill horcuxes, the only the venom does Oh and I believe you are a Ravenclaw for sure! (my house as well). Thank you again for a wonderful reaction experience! Cannot wait for the reunion! :)

2025-05-24 00:41:18 +0000 UTCA person can take on the patronus of someone they love immensely. Its implied this happened with Snape. Also in the books it says that George, after Fred's death, took on the same patronus 😞

2025-05-24 00:27:01 +0000 UTCVoldemort bound both to life by using his blood by his rebirth. It was Lilys safety power in both of them, because of that he can not kill him in the forest. In the book Dumbledore tell him this in King's Cross. And he tells Snape that Harry must die, because Voldemort must destroy the horkrux in Harry and he knows that both will survive.

2025-05-24 00:17:14 +0000 UTCThe reason Harry survived in the forest is kinda convoluted and built on clues scattered throughout the whole series, but the gist of it is this: by using Harry’s blood to restore his body in Goblet of Fire, Voldemort unknowingly reinforced Lily's magical protection. He essentially tethered Harry’s life to his own, ensuring that he couldn't kill Harry while he himself lived. He obviously didn’t do this on purpose, it was just one of many mistakes he made out of arrogance and ignorance. This doesn't mean that Harry was immortal. Lily’s protection only shielded him from Voldemort, not from death in general. However, the Horcrux inside Harry, the fragment of Voldemort’s soul, wasn’t protected by Lily’s sacrifice, so when Voldemort struck Harry with the Killing Curse in the forest, it only destroyed the Horcrux, but left Harry unharmed. Dumbledore suspected all of this, which is why he guided events so that Harry would willingly sacrifice himself to Voldemort after having destroyed all other Horcruxes. If Harry had died in any other way, the Horcrux inside him would have been destroyed, but Harry would have died with it. Dumbledore realized that the only way for Harry to survive the Horcrux’s destruction was for Voldemort himself to cast the Killing Curse, while Lily’s protection was still active and amplified by Voldemort’s own actions.

2025-05-23 23:51:29 +0000 UTCThe movies are great for what they are. I've always enjoyed them. But I hope one day, you read through the novels. Its honestly not even close. The movies ARE faithful, but they are just the tiniest possible window into the full depth of the story. The books honestly are a masterpiece =D. Give them a shot one day if you have time. Its impossible to really capture 700-800 page books in 2 hr films.

2025-05-23 22:44:41 +0000 UTCA few more things that I think you'd find interesting : 1. There's also an interesting theory in the fandom that the three brothers (The Peverell brothers & Hallows) in Deathly Hallows part 1 and their stories are parallel to Harry, Snape and Voldemort. Voldemort as the brother who wanted power, Snape as the one who lost his love and Harry as the brother who greeted death like an old friend. 2. Dumbledore's hand was cursed because he put on the ring with the resurrection stone. He is plagued with guilt over being responsible for the death of his sister Ariana and he wanted to see her again using the stone. In a way, young Dumbledore's story is also kind of a parallel to Snape's. The author loves her paralles quite a lot. Sorry for spamming. I hope you do not mind.

2025-05-23 22:27:02 +0000 UTCThe movies also left out a crucial info, that is, it was Snape who overheard the Prophecy and delivered it to Voldemort when he was a Death Eater. After Lily's death, he swore to protect Harry in her memory. But in the end by giving up Harry, he basically gave up his personal atonement and redemption for the sake of saving the Wizarding World. I am finally glad that I get to speak about my favourite character in this franchise lol.

DragonSlayer
2025-05-23 22:17:06 +0000 UTCThe book is a bit more explicit about why Harry survived. Dumbledore did know, or at least suspected that Harry would survive. His manipulations, for lack of a better term, were subtle, but effective. He basically built upon Lily's love for Harry to create a protection for Harry that was in his blood. When Voldemort took Harry's blood to create his body, he extended Lily's protection to Harry and himself, so that Harry would survive when Voldemort tried to kill him. Dumbledore really didn't have many options once Harry had been made into a horcrux at one year of age. He had to let things play out the way they did because that horcrux had to be destroyed. To steal a line from Dollhouse, he played a bad hand very well.

2025-05-23 22:16:00 +0000 UTCOmg finally we are done with HP. It was great re-watching the series with you. I love how much you care about these characters. To answer your questions, Dumbledore was aware that Harry would survive, but for that to work Harry has to willingly walk to his death. But because Snape is a double agent working close to Voldemort Dumbledore can't trust him with this info. In the books, at the end of Goblet of Fire, there's a line that says "Dumbledore looks triumphant" after Harry revelead that Voldemort took his blood. That's when Dumbledore found a way to have Harry survive. About Snape's patronus, it is implied that his patronus changed to match Lily's Doe but we do not know if he had another before.
