While I hate that Shannen had to leave the show, especially now that we know the circumstances, I did appreciate that they didn't just sweep her character's death under the rug and keep it moving. And in these first few episodes, Holly's acting is on-point bc she is literally grieving Shannen's presence on the show.

2025-08-10 18:55:56 +0000 UTCI think the reason why Paige's spells weren't backfiring was because she technically wasn't casting them for herself. She was helping other people and that was it. Plus I think the general rule is as long as your life isn't significantly improved then you may get a pass (Piper freezing people or Prue's telekinesis didn't change too much about their day to day). Paige didn't get punished until she cast a spell for revenge and thus broke the Wiccan Rede about not punishing the guilty. It's one reason I think she's so great; she gets these phenomenal powers and her first instinct isn't "how can I play with them?" But instead "how can I improve the lives of others?" which I don't think would be super common. Even her one 'selfish' spell was against a guy that kinda had it coming but it wasn't magics place to judge him.
