It seems like Walter has finally transitioned from the protagonist to the villain here, although you could argue he already did that in the Season 4 finale.

The files were encrypted and likely wouldn't have given the DEA anything, but in smashing up that picture and exposing the off shore accounts they cause a whole mess with the hazard pay of Gus' men.
