I agree that Csin was all over the place. It doesn't help that Tom Welling is a terrible actor. But shooting Chloe was not by Cain's gun. It was his underlying next to him.

Interesting point you raised regarding how going to heaven really works. It just can't be not feeling any guilt bc then the place would just be overrun with psychopaths of any kind. The Christian view of truly redeeming oneself seems to do the the trick (see Charlotte) but then again this shouldn't cut it either. Because certain abrahamic-derived (figure it out yourself which one I mean) side of things gets you to heaven completely disregarding how many sins you piled up as long as you end up dying for your cause - even if it includes suicide. Are there more than one kind of heaven? Is there a judge or gate keepers that ultimately decide where you are put? Or is it just that you are at peace with yourself and the world? That might be different than feeling totally guilt-free. In the course of the next season this will come up several times with different scenarios. Definitely keep watching no matter how much they torture your heart :)

Episodes 23-24 had two of the best endings back-to-back. Yet as much as I enjoyed these two episodes, I also thought the writing for Pierce/Cain was all over the place. He spent the whole season trying to get rid of his mark, then he suddenly wants the mark back? He desperately wants to stay alive, but then makes the incredibly risky play to challenge Lucifer? He cares about Chloe, but then shoots her, but then asks if she's okay?

I think Lucifer's devil face returning when it does has more to do with what he says to Cain as he's dying. "Deep down, you know you're a monster, and that you belong in Hell where you will torture yourself with that truth for eternity. Because no matter what you tell yourself, you can't outrun what you've done... What you truely are." First his eyes redden, then his face slowly starts burning as he delivers these words, because I think subconsciously he's talking about himself. He's still dealing with some seriously deep-seated self-loathing and guilt for rebelling against his father all those years ago. He's made progress on thse feelings, but still has a way to go yet.

the next couple episodes are honestly pretty big ones- it just doesn't compare to how big THIS episode is so the fandom talks about them like they're nothing. but they really are important and illuminating for the story.

Yes, this is where Fox canceled the show. Although the writers and cast knew a bit earlier, which is why they tried to resolve everything as much as they could in these last two episodes. And no, the notion of one's own guilt sending you to hell does not have a caveat. Your example of psychopaths not feeling remorse is incorrect or incomplete. It is deep down in the subconscious where the correct sensibility of right and wrong exists. Psychopaths or sociopaths have some kind of blockage or damage that prevents contact with that deep sensibility, so those people will still have the subconscious guilt....which is also why it is so hard to overcome that guilt, it is buried deep.

I've been so waiting for you to get here, knowing that the one reveal you've waited for for so long is finally here: Chloe now knows. I am so looking forward to continuing to seeing your reactions to the fallout from this reveal as the dominos keep falling in season four. And five. And six.
