It's also a "living" book. It adds things, loses spells once they've been used, adjusts itself to the sisters' growing powers, etc. But yeah, there's an argument that it's for plot reasons! Take Leo's advice and don't think too much about it all, you'll just get a headache!

2024-12-21 19:04:19 +0000 UTCThe reason why they don't study and memorize the Book of Shadows to be prepared is the same reason why Phoebe never got a premonition of Cole being Belthazor: Plot reasons. A lot of stories, like the one in this episode, wouldn't be possible if the sisters already knew about it. Charmed is a show where you can't ask too many questions about the why when things don't seem to make sense. It's all for plot reasons.
