Thanks so much for circling back to this! I think it’s so sweet of you guys and esp Josh to watch the show when there are sections that might include topics that are not your cup of tea etc. I also love that despite this you want to continue. I personally love this show but it’s ok if there are people who don’t. Just to clarify they were saying that people who read the book now find the section on Pigeons super boring and get enraged by it because they read the book to get into the juicy details of ‘evolution’ but in those days when the book came out it was a super interesting section because it related to peoples lived experience of breeding pigeons and keeping them as pets. When it comes to why the theory gained acceptance and acknowledgment from the public eventually, it’s because of the painstaking time taken to gather evidence and make the case for his theory, very few scientists could refute the contents of the book because it also looks at each and every possible reason (at that time) why his theory could be attacked and he provided rebuttals in advance in the book. In relation to Josh’s question in regards to changes to human now. In evolution changes take millions and millions of years, esp for substantial changes… but an example of changes in short times could be how the avg. heights of humans in different countries has changed in the last 50 years. Also as changes are not always positive ( in evolution )because of the environment we live in or the lifestyles humans become used to, or lack of predators etc. You could call the avg. waistline increasing in our generation vs previous ones a change. These small changes in foot size, height, weight etc over a long period of time will compound and result in changes in our species. Wether because our skeletons will change shape to cope with the excess weight or the extra height might mean we need bigger feet to balance etc. Even things like the foods we eat now or foods we don’t eat mean that over time our bodies develop intolerances and allergies etc that could potentially change how are bodies work and the shape of our organs. Anyways thanks so much for uploading this missing part. 💜
