WEIGHT LIFTING FAIRY EP 6 REACTION

Comments

I think the weight class thing is because they (their gym) no longer has anyone in the 63kg group since the girl left. So they know Bok Joo has the best chance of moving up weight classes without it damaging her her chances of also winning. They have plenty of ppl in her weight division so it's a win win because it means more opportunities for the others as well. Same with Woogi he moved up to a weight division that's only one other person I believe. So to me as a sports fan it didn't come off as cheating or under handed to me. Maybe it's the way I'm looking at it idk lol also the translations aren't spot on for how they were explaining the situation to her. So it's not actually as shady sounding as it's written in the subs. Also I kinda feel like your having hard time with the coaches because since you have sorta made the assumption that they aren't for the kids, you can't really see the actual. It will be better once you understand more. Again, your reading it as the coaches being for self when they aren't. They have always shown to have the kids best interest. Also keep in mind. The kids aren't telling or expressing their feels to the coaches. They have no idea what's happening with the kids because the kids aren't letting them know. So the only information they have to go on is what the kids are telling or expressing to them. Remember this is howing the snowball effect of lying. Your expecting people to understand Bok Joo but keep in mind they either no nothing or going off her lies. Same goes with Woogi, he hasn't told anyone he has a baby, so how can they consult him or make arrangements when they are under the impression that everything is the same as it always has been. Coaches are making the calls based on the information they have, which is nothing. Again i feel after you see them get all the information you will not be so hard on the coaches because you will no longer be clouded with the idea of them being all about gold or ranks

I actually know nothing about weightlifting so I could be way off, but I always read this weight class situation differently. I thought they wanted to give the other kids a chance at winning her weight class, so instead they are challenging her to go to a higher class which is more difficult. That's why the music and everything is so uplifting, and positive. Also why she says things like she's not confident she can do it. Because she could stay in her class and have a much better chance at winning despite the competitiveness or go up a class which is harder, but the non-competitiveness due to a retiree makes it possible at least. If they were going for an easier win, they would have her lose weight & drop a class instead. I believe the classes have to do with your weight compared to how much you can lift, so if she can still maintain her lift weight while decreasing class, it becomes easier to win, but if she can't increase her lift weight after going up a class, then its much harder to win. Hopefully that made sense LOL. But regardless I still think they pressured her into this and I don't agree with the way the coaches handled this. I totally agree on that.

About coaches, I think they aren't pushing her because they want to get money or gold medals for themselves. They genuinely want her and other athletes to succeed. everything they do is for the athletes, they might not be making the best decisions but they definitily aren't doing all of this for themselves. That's why they showed you in the beginning episodes how much they take care of athletes & even use their own money for them. They want them to win gold medals, so after university they get scouted by weightlifting clubs or get into national team. If they don't get in any of the clubs they basically will be unemployed after university. And they haven't even studied since all they did is exercise, so they won't be able to find decent job either. With them going to father right away, I didn't like it either, but I think it might be because of culture. Since in Korea parents are very involved in their kids life even after they become adult.
