Just wanted to clarify some things: Light doesn't lose lifespan from killing people using the deathnote. He would only lose lifespan if he takes the shinigami eyes deal. The price for using a deathnote is not being able to go to heaven or hell and being stuck in purgatory in the afterlife. Also, I'm not going to say if L knows about the deathnote or not, but the way the episode implied it is that he knew to investigate if Light needs to see a face to kill because Light was not able to kill L during the live broadcast since L didn't show his real name or face but he was able to kill the stand-in Lind L Taylor just with learning his name and face. So L is trying to confirm what information Light actually needs in order to kill.

Since L has never shown his face to the public, revealed his identity or left the house, he sends his assistant to contact and get information upfront from the police and detectives. No one knows watari's true identity either and he is the only man who can get close to L. You guys won't know what light's life span is. Of course they won't show it to us right off the bat, i love that you tried to decipher the numbers tho. 😂 The show has been done since 2007. The manga is completed as well. There is a definite ending to this story.
