The bloodline thing makes more sense if you understand the Joseon era. The elders in the family basically killed her daughter because it was a girl and didn't see it as family and even life worth saving. For a noble/rich family like that, getting a doctor would not have cost that much but they thought even spending a dollar on a girl was a waste of money. So it makes sense that the grudge creates a curse to "end the bloodline." That curse can also mean having only girls in that family not ending of lives. It all goes back to Confucius and Korea and China still sees a disparity of genders which will take a while to even out. They left so many girl babies to die...
