Course of Temptation November Update (v0.5.5)

Here's this month's update from the contributor team and myself! This month I focused on the top priorities that emerged from the recent poll: starting inclinations, the aftercare system, and the ability to (attempt to) date someone in secret.
Starting inclinations can tweak your gameplay or give you a head start. If you hate accidentally succeeding at Willpower skillchecks, then Easily Pressured is for you, and selecting traits like Confident or Lewd Exhibitionist at the start will let you bypass some of those early skillchecks while still building the relevant skill.
Aftercare will follow most encounters, giving you some extra time with your partner (or a whole second round) before you say goodbye and resume the story.
This update also removes the block on getting professor numbers and seeing them outside of class. However, since it's against university policy, they do give the idea some additional consideration! You'll have to have already crossed a certain line with them.
These are just first implementations, so do let me know what else you'd like to see from these systems.

If you're not aware, we're maintaining two parallel development cycles:
The monthly update might contain new event sets, new locations, or new mechanics, but usually focuses on extending existing content or polishing existing systems. It comes out once a month with whatever we got done in that time period... hence the name!
The roadmap update checks off one or more items on the roadmap, adding extensive new mechanics and a bunch of related new events in one go, often fundamentally changing how the game can be played. It usually takes multiple months.

You can now choose some inclinations when creating your character to define your starting personality
Added Lucky inclination: sometimes produces better than expected outcomes from skillchecks, and reduces the chances of wardrobe malfunctions
Added Unlucky inclination: sometimes produces worse than expected outcomes from skillchecks, and increases the chances of wardrobe malfunctions
Added Iron Will inclination: Always perform a bit better at Willpower skillchecks
Added Easily Pressured inclination: Always perform a bit worse at Willpower skillchecks
Inclinations like Lewd Exhibitionist, Confident, Voyeur, and so on will give you a way past some low skillgates (only relevant if you take them at the start)
Favorite positions are now proper inclinations and can be unlocked by the player
Added colored contacts as a new cosmetics option
Each eye is an individual cosmetics slot, so your character can now have heterochromatic eyes
Implemented aftercare system, which will come between the end of (some) encounters and resuming the story, and will allow for things like the alleviation of effects from negative Fleeting Feelings, Romance attitude increases, and resuming the encounter for round two
Edited a few pre-0.5 events that failed to acknowledge relationships: discovering the Regisaur, the cheerleader-footballer post-game, and spreading rumors
You can now universally adjust butt size with a new worldgen slider
Bulletin board conspiracy lore expands once more (contributed by RyDog and Meat Glacier)
Some new books have arrived (contributed by Meat Glacier)
Added a new wardrobe malfunction event at the pool (contributed by RyDog)
Once you’ve crossed a certain line with your professors, you may be able to get their phone number and may be able to see them outside of class
You may now be recognized by friends and not-so-friendly people when on hangouts and dates in public
If you’re with somebody you shouldn’t be while in public, being recognized will lead to increased suspicion about what you’re doing with your date partner
Once suspicion is maxed, the secret relationship may become exposed. Your secret partner will be reluctant to be seen in public, but may still agree to see you privately
A fully exposed secret relationship will be treated as confirmed cheating by any exclusive romantic partner (Currently there are no direct consequences for an exposed relationship with faculty, but they’ll be coming!)
Secret relationship suspicion will begin decaying naturally when you haven’t been seen in public together recently
Added the Riverside Motel near the River Rat on Yohimbe Street, which can be used for secret liaisons and as a home base in town (for a per-night cost, of course)
Streaming has been updated to allow you to stream from your motel room if you have a laptop, with the major advantage being that you don’t have to worry about being interrupted
NPCs may now refuse to date if your reputation or inclinations go against their own inclinations. For now this is reserved for fairly extreme mismatches and can be overcome by high favorable attitudes
Added a bulletin board Harvest Eve interaction (contributed by Meat Glacier)
You can now purchase a rock tumbler! And rock tumbler grit! And find stones to polish! (contributed by Meat Glacier)
Video game bets in the resident’s lounge have had a bit of a revision, with the addition of exhibitionist options and alternate locations (contributed by Sanae)
NPCs now wear glasses sometimes
By popular demand, some long-sleeved shirts will let you roll up the sleeves
Added a random outfit creator to the wardrobe
NPC customization is now extended to NPCs whose names you don’t know (Customizing every NPC can bloat save size somewhat, but it’s not really a huge concern)
Random name button added to NPC customization dialog

Two things- I think we should be able to give our people (friends and otherwise) gifts. And I would really love it if the "View Memories" section of NPCs had more descriptions. Like: "You've had two facials from this person." "You've swallowed this person's cum two times." etc. Otherwise, people will "make me messier" and it still says I haven't had any sexual relations with them, which I would say is untrue. Additionally more specific descriptions because "This person has seen your **** when an NPC pulled down your pants." is not a wardrobe malfuntion but it populates as one in character memories. Or "NPC has seen your cock from looking up your shorts." something like that.

2024-11-09 04:30:31 +0000 UTCThey do affect NPCs — however the effect is balanced more for the PC and the player experience, and it might be an idea to make it much more noticeably pronounced in NPCs... otherwise, frankly, it can be hard to tell, I think. NPCs having preferences in encounters and "evaluating" the performance is definitely planned. It did well in the recent poll, so it's very likely I'll work on it for the next monthly update. I've bughunted the NPC customization issue and the fix will be in the very next update, later today or tomorrow. Thanks! I appreciate the thoughtful comments you always have.

I'd really like to see male NPCs have a trait that makes them last longer before ejaculating, and conversely, a premature ejaculation trait that makes them ejaculate too early. I was wondering if these two traits would do that. And I'd also like to see PC and NPC likes and dislikes for these two traits added. For example, a PC might be disappointed in a man who is too premature, and it would be entirely up to the user to decide whether she wants to take her frustration out on her sex partner, or keep it to herself and play the good girl to her sex partner. I think it would be nice to have other traits like preferring a big penis, not caring about penis size, preferring rough sex, preferring gentle sex, and moaning loudly. Oh, Dirty talks too... Wouldn't it be nice to have likes and dislikes for partners, whether PCs or NPCs, based on their physical/personality traits and the satisfaction or dissatisfaction you get from sex with them? + An error occurs when completing NPC appearance customization.

2024-11-08 16:26:00 +0000 UTCThe reason I think the idea of the PC and NPC meeting 1–2 hours before their scheduled time and spending some extra time together could be interesting is that it would allow each NPC’s personality to be expressed more actively. Currently, I feel that the distinct traits of each NPC—whether they’re a Bully, a Nerd, Dominant, or Submissive—aren’t as clearly showcased. I believe that during this 1–2 hours spent together, each NPC’s personality could shine through in unique ways. For example, if PC is walking down the street with a dominant, lecherous NPC, he will constantly grope her body in public. He will slap her ass often, cupping her breasts constantly, and say all sorts of inappropriate dirty things, and even if she expresses discomfort with it, he will become even more bold. (Personally, I like scenes where a guy walks with his arm over a woman's shoulder, gripping one of her breasts with his hand as they pass by other people, Just enjoying the stares and showing off his date.) On the other hand, if the PC is with a Nerd NPC, they might chatter endlessly about their current interests, whether it’s a game or an anime. If the PC also shares these interests, they’d make a great pair. But if the PC isn’t interested, they might feel bored, either showing it openly or trying to hide it politely.

2024-11-08 14:38:26 +0000 UTCTo summarize, it would be great to have two options when setting up a date or hangout with an NPC: 1. The PC and NPC meet at the agreed location at the scheduled time. 2. They meet 1–2 hours earlier and go to the destination together. I also think there should be opportunities for varied activities, just like on real-life dates or hangouts. Even if the main plan is to watch a movie, they could spend 1–2 hours walking around, having coffee at a café, or enjoying a light meal together, and so on. Lastly, could you please consider adding cars? There’s already a parking lot on campus. :) It would be really fun to have a scene where the PC and NPC are caught in the car-sex in a alley or parking lot. Instead of parting ways immediately after the movie, they stop by a bar for a drink or two? (Of course, I know the NPC can already invite the PC to their dorm or home.) Then, perhaps the NPC could take a tipsy PC (or vice versa) to a hotel. Alternatively, if the NPC has a car, instead of dropping the PC off at the dorm right away, they could enjoy a short drive, park in a quiet spot, and have a steamy car-sex together.

So, I was thinking, what if the structure of hangouts and dates were slightly different? Imagine setting the purpose for a hangout or date (such as dinner, a movie, a booty calls, and so on) but instead of meeting at the destination, the PC and NPC meet up somewhere else first and then head to the destination together. For instance, let’s say the PC and NPC agree to go to the movies. The PC could either meet the NPC directly at the theater at the scheduled time or, more flexibly, they could meet 1–2 hours earlier at a place like University Mall or Summit Market and head to the theater together. After all, just because the goal is to watch a movie, that doesn't mean that’s all they’ll do. They might grab coffee at a café, chat at the park, or take a stroll around the street. And if NPCs eventually get their own cars, the PC could even enjoy a drive with the NPC before heading to the theater. This kind of sequence would make it feel more natural if, for example, the PC were caught by another NPC while out with someone else. Moreover, it would be nice if dates without a pre-defined objective could also be added. For instance, the PC or NPC could simply invite the other to spend time together, then spend a couple of hours walking around, having a meal, stopping by the arcade, or grabbing drinks at a bar.

Perhaps if you get both partners to a certain level, and both have cheated with you, some discussion takes place that brings both on board. Instead of simply breaking up everyone's relationships, we can integrate them instead.
