Taco Tuesday, but on a Friday!
Added 2024-10-11 21:09:17 +0000 UTCHey Folks,
Each week we try to get you all an update about how the sausage gets made. If the core rules are "the sausage" this post is probably about the bun, or perhaps the fancy mustard and grilled onions. James and the MCDM design team are heads down making changes to the core Draw Steel rules right now, so Gertz asked if anyone else might have a post to share this week, so here we are.
At MCDM we have frequent discussions about the importance of ongoing support for the products that we make. Past products like Flee, Mortals! or Where Evil Lives are ongoing support for Dungeons & Dragons. Now that we have our own original game in the works, we need to start turning our frequent discussions into a product roadmap. Obvious examples are adventures, classes, monsters, but with the art and design teams busy at work on the core rules, what can we start doing right now?
Our first foray into ongoing support for Draw Steel was the recent Dice-Funder campaign where we partnered with Chessex to make 20 sided d10s specifically for Draw Steel. Physical goodies that you can use at your table. Sometime in January we will have dice, so what’s next?
Introducing MCDM Mini Mondays.
In the past (and certainly again in the future) we’ve partnered with Trenchworx to make physical miniatures as an add-on for our crowdfunding campaigns, but we want to figure out a way to have a continual stream of fresh minis. The plan is to start releasing minis in STL format on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month, right here via Patreon. An STL is a 3D file format that you can view in free tools like Blender or use to create 3D prints.
The plan is to eventually have these available for purchase in physical format as well, but for now they will be digital STL files. Given that Monday is the 2nd Monday of October, you can expect to see Ulgna, the Goblin Spinecleaver.
That’s it, that’s the update, have a great weekend!

Seconded. Great to leave it up here, but so many of us use MyMiniFactory so it would be great to have them there as well!

2024-10-12 10:02:12 +0000 UTCWe are looking into that as an option, but we also don’t plan to remove anything. Much like Arcadia magazine in the past, we will just leave everything up.

2024-10-12 02:41:15 +0000 UTCI would like to encourage y'all to explore working with MyMiniFactory for distributing your STLs. They partner with patreons that distribute 3D models to make it easy to send a different batch each month without people having to download them before getting taken down. Your patrons have a library on their site of all the STLs that they can download from indefinitely.

2024-10-12 00:31:41 +0000 UTCI have been hoping for STL's for your monsters for a very long time! I'm happy to see the sentiment change. 3D printing has come so far even in the last couple of years and it's only going to keep getting better! Thanks for this, this is really value added for me towards the Patreon.

2024-10-11 22:25:43 +0000 UTCPerfect timing! I've been dialing in my FDM printer settings to handle minis. So excited to see official MCDM minis be made available through the Patreon!

2024-10-11 22:02:22 +0000 UTCHere in Norway, we have Taco Friday instead of Taco Tuesday, so this feels completely normal to me.

2024-10-11 21:41:22 +0000 UTCHell yeah! Miniatures are so important for some groups since they can help sell the fantasy for a group. But buying and painting minis is a hobby unto itself, so I love seeing a company make it just a little easier to get into!
