Weekly update. 24-06-2024

You may be wondering why, if you live in burger unit land, the date format is day->month->year.

It is purely because I find it more aesthetically pleasing. Moving on!

I figured it would be a good idea to start doing some weekly updates, letting you know how the last week of writing went. Ya'll are literally financing my ability to eat and pay my medical bills at the same time, so other than writing enjoyable stuff, it is the least I owe the lot of you.

Why an update on Monday instead of Friday? Frankly, my job is rather exhausting on the noggin'. My reserves of mental energy are just plain higher earlier on the week, than later on the week. So I do feel like that's for the best.

So the next chapter of Kaiju Slaying is currently sitting at 2200 words, and it needs some more TLC before it's finished, and after that a few readings to catch typos, mistakes, and to make sure I'm not messing up my timeline, and triple checking that the changing of the timeline to Evangelion I'm doing to better fit my needs is not utter nonsense. I'm...pretty optimistic about that one being ready for ya'll by the end of the week or early next week. Hunter Rhoades, I swear I have not forgotten about posting SInji's build, but the build I have actually showcases the build up to the start of Ch 8, and I don't have an earlier build saved.

I didn't forget, I just figured it would be better to post it with the next chapter.

The next chapter of Saving Yourself is in preproduction. By which I mean I'm choosing what chunk of the rough timeline I've set out for the fic it is going to cover. Now that I've reached the point where I unveiled Apex to the audience, we can get to the stuff I am really excited to write, so I'm really hoping you lot will enjoy what's coming.

Now, onto other things. Last week was...hectic. And boy were there emotional rollercoasters involved. I mentioned previously some other stories to post here. And they'll be coming soon.

Both are Waifu Catalog, one sitting at 4 chapters, the other at 5. They're my mix of comedy and action, but I approached those two specifically with the mind to attempt to do more slice of life stuff. Not sure how well I succeeded. I'm not entirely certain how to handle those two stories, as they're not the main focus of my writing, the current focus are Kaiju Slaying and Saving Yourself. And I'm not planning for there to be another 'main' fic until at least one of those two are finished.

But at the same time, I feel like there is no need to let those other fics languish for weeks, or, more realistically, months, while the two main fics run their course.

I'm considering doing something like I've seen others do, updating those fics on a Commission basis.

You lot will, of course, get everything that's written up to now, no questions asked. But after that, maybe do a snippet thread, post those, and point to a Ko-fi. And if there's enough interest in those that they get funded, add them to the writing rotation, once again, with you guys getting early access to anything that gets funded.

Dunno, still trying to figure this whole thing out.

Now! Fun facts!

Originally, in Saving Yourself, Taylor was going to play a bigger role than just a cameo. With her becoming Alex's protege, joining his crew, and overall become a badass fem-fatale. I was pretty far into figuring out the timeline for that, when I realized that I already had too many plot threads and was balancing too many things to make space for that. So it got cut to Taylor being a Mox girl and rescued.

She's going to play a part in a not-far-future chapter. Where I'll be using her situation to highlight how fucked up Cyberpunk can be, even when it's not being awful.

Fun Fact number two!

There used to be a third fic. This one was a Waifu Catalog Star Wars fic and got some twenty thousand words. Before I realized the premise I was going with was completely unusable as anything more than a vignette. So it got scrapped and reworked, and I have most of a Chapter 1 written for it that, I think, would actually do for a much better story.

Also, I'm taking ideas for more fics! Drop me a comment on what you would like to see, doesn't even need to be Waifu Catalog or Self Insert stuff. Who knows, I might like it enough to outright pick it up and make it the next 'main' fic.
