Gwess snickered to herself as she skittered through the bars of her cell, right into the shadows. “I can’t believe I didn’t try this earlier,” She sang, “I’m going to get out of here, and I won’t even need Joly~yne.” She chimed. There was no need to be quiet or subtle, she already had the path to victory ahead of her. Waltz right through the off-limits area while tiny, and return herself to normal size whenever she needed! This early in the morning, there’d barely be anyone looking for her, and she was too small to even be visible on the cameras.
…Well, she was PRETTY SURE she was too small to show up on the cameras. Surely too small for anyone to realize she was a prisoner, at least. Gwess paused her celebration for a second to think. “I mean, they’d look like a complete dumbass calling in something that small as something suspicious.” She thought. “They don’t know anything about my power, so obviously,” Before she could finish her thought, she felt the ground shake beneath her.
She turned on her heel, and saw the (comparatively) massive form of Ermes Costello. Gwess let out a panicked squeak as her fellow prisoner took yet another step.”W-what the hell is she doing going down this hall!?” She squealed. There was no way she could outrun Ermes at her scale, she had gotten far too close for comfort already. Gwess summoned her stand and began letting out a frantic burst of commands. “Grow me back grow me back grow me baaack!” She cried. Slowly she was growing, but it was far too little too late.
From a centimeter to a centimeter and a half. She was engulfed in the shadow of Ermes’ foot. A centimeter and a half to two. “Wait a-” Gwess yelped , right as she was caught beneath a casual step. Time seemed to slow, and the shrunken stand user felt every instant of the impact. The pressure slowly mounting, and her body flattening out beneath the weight. Her miniscule form pressed so firmly against the other woman’s sole that she felt like she was nearly part of it. She was so dazed she couldn’t even comprehend what had happened.
Ermes heard an odd noise, and felt a soft splat beneath her foot. “Eugh…” She groaned, jolted out of grogginess. “Of course, someone leaves something gross on the floor the same morning I forget shoes.” Ermes said. She dumped her trash and hesitantly checked what was now stuck to her. “Is this chewed gum or somethin?” She said, squinting and moving in closer. Her eyes widened. “No way,” Ermes muttered, “A person…Gwess!?” She exclaimed. Her expression shifted quickly from confusion, to shock, and then to a smirk. “Oh man, how’d you even get yourself into this?” Ermes asked. Gwess’ only response was a barely audible noise.
If it had been any other person, Ermes would have felt bad, but Gwess? The crazed lady who shrank and tried to kill Jolyne? It was too good. The shrunken woman was utterly flattened, like a cheap temporary tattoo plastered to the dusty surface of her sole. “Sorry, but I’ve just got to show this to Jolyne.” Ermes said. She darted back to her cell, entirely ignoring the indignant squeaking from her new sticker. In spite of her efforts to step lightly, each stride smudged Gwess just a bit further.
Gwess had wondered how much worse her day could possibly get, and it was answered as Ermes slipped on her footwear. Before, she at least found temporary relief between each step. Now, it was all darkness. Every moment she was pressed face down against the worn, sweat soaked insole. She could feel herself pressed thinner and thinner, spread across the filthy surface of Ermes’ sole.
It felt like an eternity had passed when she finally saw light again. In truth, it had been about an hour.
“Look who I accidentally stepped in.” Ermes said, hoisting her leg onto the table.Jolyne stared for a while, barely able to tell she was looking at someone. “Oh man, Gwess-” Jolyne tried her best to stifle a laugh “How long has she been stuck down there?” Jolyne asked. Coated in sweat and grime, so perfectly flattened that every print and wrinkle of the sole was visible through her body, Gwess was practically part of the dirt staining Ermes’ sole.
“I’ll peel her off eventually,” Ermes said casually, “but for now…how much thinner do you think we can smear her?”
