I think there's some critical subtext that's been overlooked. Mel Gibson (sorry, forgot the character name) yells "Do you think I got this job because I'm fat and jolly?", implying that he became Santa by virtue of killing the last Santa and successfully defending against all challengers thus far. Where have we seen this before? In The Santa Clause, Tim Allen's character becomes Santa by accidentally killing the former Santa and then putting on his suit. I submit, then, that at some point Mel Gibson's Santa Claus murdered Tim Allen's Santa Claus to become the reigning Santa. I imagine this all happened in The Santa Clause 4, which was never released. I wonder what horrible things happened to make the elves turn so fashy. Maybe that's for the sequel?

2021-12-20 14:48:55 +0000 UTCThe weird and twisted places you take your viewers... Worth it every time. I didn't think there'd be anything to talk about when this movie came out except "Why are people still giving Mel Gibson money and air?" but here we are. Can't wait to see the final edit! :)
