Crash Bandicoot - Sony PS1

Sega had 'Sonic', Nintendo had 'Mario', so in the late '90s Sony needed a loveable platform character of their own. And so 'Crash Bandicoot' came to be! I played these games quite a lot at the time, but Helen has only recently seen him for the first time. That doesn't mean either of us are any good though! (I need to find my original DualShock controller, as I'm sure I used to use the analog stick for this...)

No, Crash never did quite have the same impact, but still has a quite a loyal following. And yes, it took a long time to finish the original!

Coming back to comment after playing the first one on the ps5. They released a remastered bundle of the first three games on the ps4. I lost track of Crash after the first game really, he just really didn't have that same drive that sonic and Mario had for their respective consoles in my opinion. But oh my god was that game extremely frustrating to play. I couldn't keep the "what have you got" mask to save my life, nor could I ever reach the tier of becoming invincible. Take care S&H, til next game.

We were playing on an original, grey PlayStation. The PS2 you can see in the corner is a separate setup where I've been playing Final Fantasy X! The PlayStation/PS1 did have the grey DualShock controllers which introduced the analogue sticks. The PS2's DualShock2 controllers are mostly backwards compatible and easier to come by, so I tend to use those most often, and keep my one original DualShock safe!

does the controller have a little press-in button a little below and in between the start and select button? when pressed it should illuminate a little red light to show it's activated. if memory serves me right, that should make them work for older titles. You were playing it on a ps2, correct? I'm not sure there ever were analog sticks on ps1 controllers.
