Live Show Archives: Palace Theater, St. Paul, 2022
Added 2025-04-03 20:18:50 +0000 UTCI'm back! Apologies once more for the late upload, but here's a very exciting show archive: our very first stop on the 2022 Masquerade tour, the Palace Theater in St. Paul, Minnesota.
I picked this night because I found it an interesting counterpoint to the "Faces" live album from this same tour. The set changed significantly throughout the year, with the band constantly pulse-taking and vibe-checking different parts of it each night, and these recordings present two interesting poles--the Brooklyn Steel "Faces" gig, capturing the set at its most polished and refined; and this gig, capturing the set at its most new, raw, and untested. This was version 1.0 of a very challenging set, by far the most technically complex we had attempted thus far, and one we really struggled with for a good part of the year. While it eventually clicked into place and the changes we made were overwhelmingly good, I do find myself really missing the "Burning Man / Blood" medley from this earlier period. We found it to be a little too slow and deep of a cut for the energy level we wanted, but I just really like that song, the lyrics, and the echoplexy fuzz licks were really fun for me to play personally.

I'm aware of a few odd clicking sounds which seem to be baked into the waveforms of these tracks, they seem to be artifacts from our show-capture rig which was most likely still working out some kinks at this early part of the tour. Sorry for those, and enjoy!
Also, just a heads-up: this is your 48-hour warning that I'll be taking down some of the old .zip downloads of previous archive shows as I don't have enough space in my Google Drive to host them all concurrently (The embedded player at the top of the posts will still work). I don't want anyone to miss out on them, so if you want those shows in tagged track form, grab em now!

I was here! We waited outside after the show and met Andrew and Will! You guys were so real and it was really rad to get a chance to say thanks in person for the art!
