Production update 2024-11-04
Added 2024-11-04 22:16:21 +0000 UTCHello!
I am now fully back in the thick of things. Expect regular updates from now on!
I have started my work on my next project. As you know if you've read the last update, it is the World Record History of Donkey Kong 64 101%!
I did some research, which included compiling the list of all the individual level times for each record (thanks CornCob for helping out with that!) and compiling the list of all the tricks used in 101% and the first world record in which they were applied.

Then, I wrote the entire script, and I secured a sponsor deal with Old School RuneScape that requires me to release the video on [Edit: November 28th]. Immediately as I got those two things done, I fell violently ill to a stomach flu (probably norovirus) with a side of bronchitis-like symptoms. I'll spare you the details but it knocked me down completely for 72 hours, and I took an additional 2 days to get back to normal. As I'm typing this, I still have a cough, but my energy level is around 80-90%.
Anyway, I wrote almost 9000 words in a week or so, and today I actually started editing!
I organized the next few weeks a bit, and here's how the production schedule looks.
I am leaving for Madrid on the weekend of the 22-25, and I am generally keeping weekends free. The release is scheduled for the 28th for the sponsored segment (the image says 29th but it is the 28th), so there is little breathing room. I might work a couple extra days on the weekends to make it work.
Eagle-eyed readers might have spotted a pesky "Part 1" in there. Yeah. In the middle of writing the script, I realized there was no way I would manage this one in a single part. I would have done it if it had been 60, even 70 minutes, but this is well on pace for 90 to 100+. So, I'm splitting it into two 45-50 minute videos rather than one near 2-hour video. 8726 words is almost 44 minutes of straight talking, so I expect Part 1 to last anywhere from 46 to 50 minutes in total.
There's also a lot of work to be done on the music. I recorded 18 pieces from the DK64 OST just before leaving for Spain, but in my haste, I recorded some of them a bit... shakily. The process of editing the timings on the notes between different parts is extremely tedious, and I'm doing it on off days or at night when I can't sleep. I have about 9 songs ready, and 9 songs in a state varying from almost ready to needing a good 4 hours of work done.
So I've got my work cut out for me. This will be a very busy month, but the motivation is there. Hopefully, the health will, too!
I will try to provide week-end updates on Friday nights, but I might find it more comfortable to post on Mondays. In any case, except to hear from me every week!
See you soon!
