Production update 2021-10-03

Hello everyone!

I hope you had a great week. I did! In fact, I want to get right into it.

First, some final words about how Part 2 is doing. Unfortunately, it did not have the second breath that SMB1 4:54 did, and it's fizzling out around 160,000 views. It will probably reach about 200,000 by the end of the month. That is below my average, but respectable - after all, it's 50% more than my subscriber count, so there's that! Also, the response I've been getting from everyone is super positive, so I am still very motivated to keep going.

Now for Part 3's progress.

I said in my last update that the script might break 10,000 words and I would be forced to trim it down to avoid ending up with a 50+ minute Part 3. Well, I did that, sort of. I decided to end Part 3 at an earlier point than I had originally intended. I think it's a better idea because this way, I am not cutting things out that I would have liked to include. Also, from a narrative perspective, the new ending point is more dramatic than where the cutoff used to be.

So! With that shortened script, I did manage to finish it last week. It's about 7300 words long, so expect roughly about 36 to 38 minutes this time. I also began recording, I've been doing daily 90-minute sessions since I finished the script. Finally, because I sometimes work more than 90 minutes a day, I also started editing as well! Here's the progress on each front:

• Recording: 42%
• Editing: 14%

That's right! 14% done already. This is very motivating. I would be extremely excited to manage to get Part 3 done within 5 weeks of Part 2. Imagine if I could keep that pace up for extended periods of time!

The first percent of editing actually took two days to get done. The intro is pretty involved this time. I was very happy to finish it, and I decided to share it with you guys! It's a very quick recap of Part 2, so there aren't really any spoilers. I originally sort of wanted to have this kind of visualization somewhere at the end of Part 2, but I just did not have the energy left in the tank when I finished editing that one. So, I shoved it at the start of Part 3 instead!

After finishing that intro, I didn't relent. I also did some cool visuals to illustrate transport cloning.
